I have a vague memory that about someone doing 1/4" iron shaft gaps from the 1980s(?).

It seems like one of the prominent club makers went with 1/4" shaft increments on numbered irons, and maybe 5* loft changes up and down the set.

Might you know which company did this, and what the iron model was? A couple of the really old times remember someone doing 1/4" shaft gaps, but can't recall the manufacturer.

jagpilotohio recalls the idea, and suggested I put this out in a thread and see if anybody has details.
