Hey all, thehottsauce and I are gonna meet up for a golf weekend, hes driving from San Diego, Im coming from Az.

Planning on staying in Beaumont Yucaipa area, dont want Palm Springs. Both of us are budget conscious, that being said its my bday weekend and his last hurrah before baby #2 comes.

Other plans would be drive up Friday morning and play Friday probably at oak valley.

Sat we want to do 36+, Im assuming tukwet is the place for that?

Sunday wed play again before I hit the road. Anything other of note that Im missing? Should we drive to oak quarry?

If you're coming from Arizona (I am assuming on the 15) and he's comin from SD I think you need to find a way to fit in Rams Hill.  It is the best public course in Southern California IMO.  If that's out of he question, Soboba Springs just got a back nine redesign.  Haven't played it since but it used to be a well conditioned fun track.

Morongo has two courses, so if you are playing 36 in a day, it's a good choice. I think they have a replay rate of $25, if I remember  correctly.
Oak valley is a nicer course though, imo. Make sure you check the weather as it is supposed to be raining on Sat.

I'll be at Morongo early Sunday.

Oak Quarry was recently given a bad review on Greenskeeper.org and it seems the conditioning there has gone downhill.  I'd suggest Tukwet because of the accessibility, and you could always switch it up by playing Oak Valley across the freeway.  My friends and I are still wary of going back to Soboba because the course remodel hasn't had time to mature.

I haven't been to Oak Quarry for a month or so, but the conditions were fine then. Not perfect, but its winter (such as it is in Socal).

You already created your own plan....

Only qualifier is if strong winds start, Beaumont is a freaking wind tunnel.  If it’s blowing crazy, head down to Soboba Springs.
The mountain shelters it from winds out of the E/NE

I agree.  Not sure exactly why, but this course fits my eye and I love it.  You are going to love Oak Valley too.

Albuquerque was our original destination and Ive played there in some pretty brutal winds. Are we talking like 10-15 with gusts or like steady 30+?

Sweet we are doing oak quarry on Friday and valley on Sunday , getting a good deal on quarry, any places to look other than  GolfNow and teeoff for deals?

36 at tukwet on sat, should be no prob playing 36 even with frost delays? If you only got to play one of those course at tukwet, which one do you pick?

Yes, exactly.  A casino bought it a few years ago and renamed it.

Yes, exactly.  A casino bought it a few years ago and renamed it.

Technically, the casino didn't buy the course, the Morongo Band of Mission Indians own both.  The casino is that "skyscraper" on the north side of the 10 freeway in Cabazon, about 15 miles east of the courses.

We havent gone yet, trip will be the 22nd-24th.

Trying to figure out final plans, seems like morongo gets lots of negative reviews on pace of play, and wed like to get 36 in. Wondering if wed be better off driving to Soboba or hemet for 36

If you get an early 1st tee time (7:00ish), I don't think you will have trouble finishing 36 in a day at Morongo.  Pace of play is not that bad - I'd say 5 hours tops on a weekend morning, and less in the afternoon.    Folks drive out from LA or Orange County all the time because the P.O.P. is better than at their home courses.
