Bought a fairway wood that ended up playing 1/4" short. I want to get it back to standard length. With there be much difference with 1/4" longer shaft? It feels a little lighter to me than another same club side by side, but it could also be the grip that has me feeling the weight difference.

1/4" short compared to what and how did you measure?

It almost not worth the trouble.  But whether you add 1" or 1/4" it takes the same amount of work.

Your swingweight is likely a hair lighter but very, very few people would sense that at 1/4 inch short.

A single piece of lead tape would make the head feel heavier and “normal” again.

I’d leave the length alone.  1/4 inch won’t make it perform differently.  If you prefer  a DIFFERENT shaft or a DIFFERENT grip then that’s a whole different issue.

You’re being very polite.  It’s definitely not worth the trouble.

I will be changing the grip anyways. There is a new decade standard on there now, and I prefer a CP2 Wrap Midsize, so maybe that is the weight difference?

.

Compare apples to apples.  Put the grip on you like.  If things are still a bit odd play with some lead tape.

Agree with Jag, get some led tape.

NDMC = 46.5g
CP2 wrap mid = 63.5g

If you're changing the grip anyway I'd add the 1/4" at the same time. As others have said it will make no difference but it will eliminate any doubt from your head.

I really never play NDMC grips or anything non midsize. This may be the different feel I am noticing.

I had a 1/2" extension put in a wood and it completely changed the ball flight. Not sure if it was me changing my swing but I ballooned it like crazy after. Before I had the extension put in I never ballooned the ball.
