Still frozen and under 10" of snow on the prairie, so I'm tooling around with another build. Picked up a set of Brunswick Precision FM 6.5's for $30, thought I'd make a combo set of my Mizunos. MS-5 4,5,&6 irons paired with MP-14 7,8,9,&P. Love the MS-5 look in the long/mid irons; same with the MP-14 shorts. Can't wait to hit 'em in four months or so haha!

Cool project.  Love those old Brunswicks.  Personally I think this set would look amazing raw with some colorful ferrules and matching grips.  Keep up posted!

Man those old shafts will be heavy, but feel smooth at the same time. Not sure if they match up to a modern 6.5 flex, which is X flex. I caddied for a guy called Peter Harrison, who became head of Callaway in Europe. He had 7.2 flex in his irons and a flex 8 in graphite in his driver. They didn't move. He could carry it 290 with an old balata with a lazy, 3/4 action.

Heads installed, still deciding on which grips to get. I really wish Golf Pride would have extended production of the Victory Cord--my favorite grip of all-time!  Yes, these shafts do feel quite heavy (which I've always preferred), and stiff. I've always liked a rebar feel in the irons, keeps me from getting too lazy/handsy in the downswing. Living in a place with harsh winters isn't ideal for a golf nut, but there's always ample shop time!

I've a nice set of Macgregors with Brunswick Precision FM 6.5 shafts, and they are pretty much at (OK, beyond) the limit of what I can play. I think they play stiffer than DG X100, although they feel smoother. I'd really like to try the 6.0 flex, as I think that would be perfect for me.

And OP, keep us posted with your project. I'm a sucker for Mizuno irons, old or new.

Driver: Ping G400 Tour 65S
4w: TaylorMade R9 stock Fujikura Motore X flex
7w  TaylorMade V-steel, Quadra Fire Express RB 6SX

Wedges: Callaway MD2 50* S and 54* S-grind  or whatever else I fancy for the day
In the 60* slot: Usually a Titlesit Vokey 260 60*

The finish is raw and then torched...pretty unique and it keeps the rust down.
