HI all, this is my first post, as I'm a "newbie" to Golf WRX.  My wife, who doesn't play, and I are heading down to Naples Florida for first time, for 10 days in January, and I'm looking for suggestions from people who've been there or are down there year round. I'm a single digit handicap and always looking for challenging, yet beautiful courses.

I'm open for suggestions, and depending on the quality of the course, money shouldn't determine where I play.

Hope to hear from folks.

Matt

Might want to flip this over to the Florida forum for better responses. I'm in Tampa so I am not super familiar with all the courses there, but:

- In Naples I would recommend Old Corkscrew. Nothing like 7,300 yards and a 153 slope.
- Tiburon Black course I liked a lot. Gold (where Shark Shootout and LPGA play) is not as good of a course IMO.

and oh yeah...

STREAMSONG. Play all 3 courses.

I have found the ratings on Golf Now to be pretty accurate. Here is their listing of public courses in the area. If you are trying to get on private courses Iím sure there are some great ones but no idea which or how you would go about trying to get on, especially this time of year.

https://www.golfnow....tions/39-naples

You mentioned Sarasota, again lots of good private courses but it doesnít have much great public golf.  One that is supposed to be good is Sarasota National. Itís actually well south of the city of Sarasota in Venice, FL so closer to Naples.

Hope you have a great trip!

If you want to get your butt kicked, play Old Corkscrew on a windy day!

I love Sarasota National. I'm originally from MA but my inlaws are in Venice. I make it a point to play Sarasota every single time I visit.

The course is always immaculate, the greens are fast, and the layout is great.

Sarasota National  in Venice are/north port   excellent course and practice facility  Golfnow you get on a weekend 59-69$
Lakewood National hands down the best course here. Its up near lakewood Ranch  Web.com is playing it in February and you can play tournament pins/conds Monday after tourney.
University Park is another gem. I haven't played in Naples yet  but these are my picks for the venice/sarasota area

Its worth the drive to Streamsong from New York, let alone Naples.  If you can get all three in, do that.  Personally, I like Blue, but I am admittedly a bit of a Doak junkie.
