Licensed pilot. No longer flying since becoming a family man. So, now golf is about it. I do one tuna fishing trip per year and that's about 30% what I spend on golf. If I win the lotto I already know 2 airplanes I'm picking up...

Great topic. It is my most expensive hobby and also for the family.

Some great ideas for more expensive hobbies in this thread for the wife though, she likes boats & horses (and we live in the country) so if I can get her started on one of those, I reckon I'm good playing pro v1's

Another vote for boating / fishing.  Not even close $$$,$$$ wise, and I consider myself to be about a 30 Handicap fisherman.  The only folks more gullible than golfers regarding equipment are fishermen.

photography & cinematography gigs help fund my golf trips and occasional club ho'ing.  But it's sometimes a coin toss on whether to spend that extra cash on photo gear or golf gear.

Guitars could be, but I'm quite content with my setup and it doesn't cost money to actually play.  Shooting could easily be far more expensive, but I do a whole lot less of it now than I did back in college.

Kids cost well into the six figures by the time you’re done with them, so I’d say the outcome of my winter hobby is more costly than golf.

Ice fishing consists of a few larger transactions but is cheaper on a per-time basis. RC cars are expensive and it depends on the day and when they decide to break, but I haven’t done a cost analysis on that one yet.
