Read below the amazing story of young professional Cody Blick, who started the day well outside the 'top 40' cutoff for any kind of Web.com status.  Still, with today's final round offering one last chance to move up, he discovered Sunday morning that his clubs had been stolen.  He offered a $5,000 "no questions asked" reward for their return.

Today, the great news: Blick fired a final round 63 to earn his status.  (Don't yet know if he played with borrowed clubs, his own or rentals but this gets my vote as the Clutch Performance of the Year.)

If he indeed played with borrowed or rental sicks it is an amazing final round 63. Playing with a different set of sticks cold turkey is so difficult even if the setup is similar. The just feel so foreign because of so many different factors.

U almost got it.

"They put together a TS3 driver and 3-wood with different settings. They borrowed the club superintendent’s 5- through 9-iron that were a few degrees upright. They took a couple of wedges from the pro shop. And they grabbed a blade putter that was heavier and an inch longer than his gamer."

This confirms what everyone on WRX has been saying. You can't play well unless you were fit at Club Champion (or similar) and had them build you a set for $5,000, making sure every spec is exactly how it was when you hit those two good shots off a mat, into a screen, indoors.

This is an amazing story. A pro playing such an important round with a set of clubs not configured to his specs. Says a lot about his mental fortitude and ability to adjust on the fly, and also says a lot about how important it is to play 'at ease'. On the other hand, bad karma to whoever pinched his clubs.

This story got put me in a great mood considering it's Monday,

This is insane! What does it mean?

"Blick figured that he needed to shoot 8 under to secure early-season status for 2019, and he got hot early, going out in 32. He ripped his new driver, missing only one fairway all day, and even felt confident enough to roast a few off the deck. He tugged a couple of iron shots, but he also knocked down the flag and had seven birdie putts inside 5 feet. And after a painful goodbye to his stolen putter – which he’d used since 2010 – he choked down an inch on the new model, adjusted his setup and rolled the ball beautifully, never missing inside 7 feet."

This alone may be the craziest part.  Putting like that is amazing.  Same putter with even just a different grip would cause me to miss everything inside 7 feet. :)
