I sent two of my Machines in for some custom work in May17 and paid half deposit.  Dave quoted me 6 weeks lead time.  I've emailed him a few times now to check the status and have not heard anything back.  Now I'm out both of my Machines plus I have half the deposit for the work on my credit card.  I guess I can dispute that but this is really pissing me off.  Talked to Dave on the phone and everything regarding my work order.  Not sure where to go from here

Police Department

At this point, they're a mail fraud operation.  I wish it weren't that way and I'd like to get one from the source but no way I'd give them a dollar at the moment.

How can you take new orders if you have customers out there who have already paid you and haven't received their orders?

I was very fortunate and Dave was awesome with my build before whatever happened.  It's easily my favorite putter I own and hopefully it will all work out for Machine in the near future! Just to much talent, demand and beauty for golf if this company goes away. Good luck everyone I really feel for all the misfortune!

Small business in a competitive area is very difficult to manage and it takes more than a great product to survive.
If they dont have the business side down they will never succeed no matter how much raw talent they have.
It will be a succession of open and closing shop and making as much money as possible.

I bought a Machine straight up on eBay. No problem.

I wouldn't trust anyone who promises custom work.

I don't know about that, look at Byron at Bryon Morgan, I don't hear any issues with his putters. Plus hes a great bloke to deal with directly and his putters 1st class, top notch. Mind you, it been a while since I bought my custom Channel Island from the man himself. Its still in my house, won't move that on. There are still other great putter companies that can be trusted, MACHINE is still in re-hab, I guess.

As a long time customer of MACHINE & Dave, it really saddens me to hear like things have not improved. I thought the last post by Dave indicated he's corrected himself and coming back. But it sounds like the emails are still unanswered and the trust is still not there. $1,200 is a LOT to spend on a customised putter so I have empathy for that poster. For now, I would not do any customs from MACHINE either until I hear things are back to normal - order put thought, order delivered on time.

It been about a year now since I last settled with Dave. Back then I too waited for more than a year for my meager customization but I will say, Dave made up for the delay with some goodies & for that I am grateful and have no quam but it really rips my heart to see such a great company with such great innovation to be where they are now... kinda makes me puke when you see lesser, crappy companies that are still floating around.

My 2c & good luck to all.

Yeah its pretty crappy. I haven't put in a dispute with PayPal yet because i do really want my custom GSS Adjuster. A part of me still has hope in humanity, and during the order process Dave struck me as a intelligent person. I gotta believe he'll come through. Last i heard from him was a email which entail his ongoing issues and a offer of a putter out of his vault as a token of gratitude for the wait. I requested a Damascus Art putter and thats the last i heard from him. Fingers crossed. Does any know if he's still in the Irving, TX area? I'm only a few hours away from Irving. Wouldn't mind tracking him down and meeting face to face.

Wow, a putter from his vault? You know, I think you're like me, we don't want free stuff, we just want what we paid for and hopefully he will come thru - I gotta believe in Dave. Have you tried calling him on his cell? I would not count on email. But I did post here on this thread and Dave responded back then - when hes a sponsor here but that was a year + ago and things have come to light as to what was happening with his company...

Also, if you're a few hours, I would take the drive down and see wassup down there but I would scour back to at least a few pages, hes moved his business apparently and there was a few posts about it here. Good luck and let us know whats happening.

Sad. Great company and ideas, to be let down by p*ss poor management.

I guess they could take pictures of their un-fulfilled order forms.
Lots of pics early in the thread.

Trying to get some info from MACHINE direct, but no reply, so maybe someone here can help...

I'm looking to convert an M2A Converter from a plumbers neck to a center shaft. Does anyone know if they sell necks only (without need to send to them), and if so, idea on cost?

Sorry to post this in the pics thread, but seems to be the place to discuss all things MACHINE.

Thanks in advance, Scott

You used to be able to buy necks on shafts (no heads) but not sure if you still can with everything going on

Anybody see that the value of Machines on ebay is in massive decline?  I thought about picking one up, but was worried about their authenticity.  Now that I look at the DLR site though, it appears that the back drop for the ebay images is identical. Only issue is, a lot of these appear to have finish flaws or questionable mods. (I.E. a welded on plumbers neck, when there is clearly a machined hole in the sole for an interchangeable neck.)  Any chance these are authentic and DLR is just trying to unload surplus stock to generate funds?

I believe they are authentic--the primary seller (not sure if I can use the username or not) is a legitimate Machine dealer.

Just a theory, but I think the primary reason many of these are being sold for cheaper prices is because they reflect overstock from the shop. Many are being sold as used, so I would guess they were used for fittings, etc. Many don't come with covers, and good luck getting extra weights, etc. at this point. Again, just a theory.

there have always been garage and ART putters from machine that feature welded necks..... welded up weight ports etc... I had a steam punk with a welded longneck, and welded on flange with welded up weight ports...Hand stamping etc....  Ive seen the ones your talking about on ebay... they are 100% legit and a great value ...

Bladehunter -

I know that they've done the welded items, but typically with their welded necks I've never seen the recess milled into the sole for the neck screw.  These just look like they were done as an after thought.

I just bought one from fast_greens and met him and he said he's an authorized dealer, works with Dave at DLR a few days a week, and also works at Clubfinders Golf Shop.  He even helped me with a hosel I was looking for, so all seemed legit to me.

He's legit, and I wouldn't have any qualms about ordering from his eBay. However, I had him facilitate a custom putter over the summer and it was the absolute WORST experience ever. It took nearly 3 months to get everything I was owed, including multiple mistakes and forgotten items (I still don't have the correct medallion screws). By the time I got the blank medallion I originally was promised, I was so utterly sick of dealing with his sh*tty communication that I didn't even bother to bring up the fact that it DOESN'T match the putter (as he promised it would).

Don't get me wrong though; The putter itself is a thing of stunning beauty, and Dave continues to do great work, but until he hires someone with actual customer service skills to run his business, he's doomed.

I have no doubt that you get what you see from those eBay listings, but if you dare to ask for anything even slightly custom... BEWARE!

Yeah I still don't have my two putters I sent him in May-17 after multiple promises.  Originally quoted a 6-8 week turnaround time.

Yeah I still don't have my two putters I sent him in May-17 after multiple promises.  Originally quoted a 6-8 week turnaround time.

Have you reached out to Chris on here?  He posted a few posts above yours and I think he is still sort of affiliated with Machine and maybe could help.

Hate to see what this has become as I've owned a few machines (bought well before the troubles started and were both great experiences) as Dave was pumping out IMHO the best and most innovative custom works available

Yes I contracted Chris over the summer.  He said Dave would be contacting me and they would make it right.  Still not right
