I would firstly like to thank FAbb for posting a picture of what this might look like and to DHarry who started a thread about possibly going about doing this for my inspiration.
I have gone through an obscene amount of putters over the last 2 and a half years. The best feeling one I have come across is the Tyne H but I just could not get used to the heavy 370g head.
I decided to use a bandsaw to shave off a few grams. You can see from the pictures that it looks very DIY but I am not bothered as I only look at the sight line when I am lining it up.
I was attempting to take 20g off it and I ended up taking off 18g so I am pretty happy that I was close. A 352g head is perfect as I play putters at 35”. I am not going to make the audacious claim that it will stay in the bag for a very long time but it has been over 2 years that I have been this sure about a putter. It rolls fantastically and the toe hang as I thought, has remained the same.

Pretty cool.  I’m surprised that it took off 18g as I would have thought that would be less.  Were you able to get the two sides perfectly even?

Interesting. Doesn't look bad at all. Looks the same size as the evnroll and cleveland wing mallets. Have you rolled it on a green yet?

Btw, digging my tyne h still too. 370 at 33.5 with a 70+g grip is perfect for me.

Will make significant progress on my 2ball fang to plumber's neck this weekend. Should have the borehole complete saturday.

That's fantastic looking! Like Cam Champs mini Tyne.

Only thing I would recommend is filing and sanding so the edges are less aggressive and sharp. I think the weight loss would be very small but the look would be improved!

If you do end up loving it send it away for a refinish...they will soften the ends a bit and refinish.

Can you measure the length you clipped off?

I've got a guy in my golf club that does machining, and he offered to mill off whatever length of the fangs I want.

If you measure from the back of the flange along the inside of the fang, it's about 2" long.  Visually, I was thinking cutting half that length would be ideal.  It looks like you only cut about half an inch though?

I'd definitely have to add weight back to the head if I cut off as much as I was thinking.

It measures right about five eighths of an inch from the furthest out point.

Design wise, I like it much better than stock. I don’t remember a putter I was so excited about at first and then turned around and sold so quickly as the Tyne H. This slightly more compact look is very sharp though, and the weight seems perfect as I didn’t care for the extra heavy feel either. I wouldn’t be able to live with the “DYI look” but that’s because I’m admittedly neurotic.

I thought the DIY look would irritate and distract me more but I am not drawn to the wings when I am addressing the ball. I am squaring the face and looking at the sightline. The “clips” are cleaner looking from the sole though.

I love the DIY look! Good on you for taking the leap of faith with the band saw! I’m amazed that those little wings add up to 18 grams, I would have guessed half that! It looks awesome.

That is an awesome mod.  I commend your commitment, effort and result.

As for the weight removed, don't forget that you probably took another 2g-6g with the cut. Your head is probably actually slightly under your target of 350g.

Nice job going through with it! I did this a few years ago on a #7 and still use this putter when I'm on a mallet kick.

I have  the Tyne and love it but the Black Lab BL-7 is more compact and the milled face is incredible.

Here's another clipped Tyne, inspired by the OP of course.  I managed to get exactly 10 grams off by clipping it just in front of where the tynes started to point inward at the back (see the red line).  Much nicer now at 35.5".
