I will miss the banter but it’s time for a sabbatical from the forum. One year without reading about clubs, instruction, gossip, etc., is maybe what I need to focus on my game as is. In a year from now I’ll let you know if my HCI is down, currently at 13.7 and climbing.

Good Luck on refocusing your game.  Its hard to find that balance - maybe also looking at another hobby might help as well to keep you fresh and excited when you do get on the course.

Focus on yourself in all ways and your game and life will improve.  Igoring the bad is like turning your back on a charging tiger. However, one can always just step to the side and focus on something else.  Good luck.  May the Fore be with you.

As a notalentrighty I know that the struggle is real.  Good luck in the quest.  Hope you come back with some good stories.  Maybe you’ll discover Hogan’s secret or end the blade vs cb debate ; )

Here's my suggestion during your sabbatical. Make wild passionate love with your SO every day. Work on your short game consistently. Love your kids as much as possible.  Have fun at every opportunity and never lose sight that this is a game.

This really isn't a far fetched notion and I don't blame OP for wanting to do it.
Perhaps OP wants a break from reading about golf, which maybe has led to indecision in his or her game as it relates to equipment and/or technique.

I took a sabbatical from the site for close to a year, with maybe a post or article read once every few months. I’ve actually cut off all social media as well.. no real reason outside of being tired of watching the same dead horses being beaten on like six total subjects in the entire world... lol

I didn’t change a single club the entire season, and my scores didn’t really fluctuate. The club ho’ing obviously decreased, but that didn’t affect my wallet much, since selling and trading were a part of my habits too, I never spent that much money on sticks once I acquired nice enough stuff to garner profits, etc.

If you find anything the same as me, it’ll be that this forum’s affect is by far and large positive, but it’s good to separate your mental game from this place if you truly feel tied to it.

You’ll also realize you’re a better golfer than you think. It’s easy to lose perspective when most the people on here are in the top 10% of golfers out there. Have a good year, good luck with the game!
