Considered going down again this year but I think Iíll pass. Iíve had my fair share of St Andrews this year and was at 6 days of the Open. Always a fun one to watch, cool to see Brooks show up.

My friends sister bought a town house in St Andrews to rent out and for the three years doing so Tyrrell Hatton (two years running) and Thorbjørn Olesen have won the tournament but this year its a different golfer

Well just tell us the name man, so we can get some bets down!

It was meant to be Branden Grace but i found out this morning he canceled because his family isn't coming over and he thinks its too big for him and his caddie

Ooft! I hope that they took a deposit.

£4,000 up front non refundable, these guys have way too much money

Ironically, Branden Grace is also a former champion.

I love watching this event every year. But having just played these three in August, it will be even an even greater thrill this year.

Really looking forward to it.

I hope people that watch the coverage take the time to see all the little stories they do about St Andrews. Its an even more amazing place than we thought. If you go, STAY for a while. Dont be one of those groups that rips through and only stays one or two nights. We stayed for 8 days and it wasnt enough.

Oh and if you think there arent enough nearby courses to hold your attention for 8 days - we played 7 rounds and I think I have 11 courses on our list of places we *didnt* get to. :taunt: :taunt: :taunt:

Yep, we had 5 nights and stayed nearby - 2 or 3 more would have been better (but not complaining because 5 nights is better than the zero nights we had in the area in the prior many decades!).

So much to take in!

Brooks and Chase Koepka are paired together starting at Kingsbarns today.

I'm sure I read Brooks' amateur partner for this week is his caddy so no idea whose on his bag.

I played this morning here in Scotland. its a tad windy today. I hit a 7 iron down wind carry 225 and a 6 iron carry into the wind 160, one was a birdie and one was a bogey, guess which one!

great seeing them play in these conditions. its warm out today so the ball is still flying. gets colder the next three days.

still leaning to head to St Andrews to watch on Sunday.

It was great to watch a bit this morning. Love the courses, and also love to see them playing in stocking caps and long sleeves.

St. Andrews was my favorite stop when we visited. We only played the par 3 and the Himalayas putting course, but mostly enjoyed the town and the people we met. Truly a treat.

A woman was injured when she was hit by a wayward shot from defending champion Tyrrell Hatton on day one of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.

Some say the New is better than the Old, those are my only frames of reference and look forward to trying others. The New was great, the Old was awesome. Sure, the experience was a huge part of it, but I felt like the New was pretty special ground as well. Wish I could play them all the time. For me the Old is one fine course and has a lot going on. New was a little tougher, part of that was me, but still thought the Old was a better course. Just my opinion from very limited experience in St. Andrews.

I played the New last week was great fun, was supposed to play the Old as a guest and another quest joined us so my member friend didn't have enough points left for the Old. I still had a great day on a great golf course.

The New is certainly less open than the Old, I did duck hook a drive and played a shot from the Old onto the New.

I spent 6 very happy years in St Andrews at uni, and spent more time on the Links than I care to remember (access to all 6 courses at the time for £82 helped :)) - and my personal favourite was the Jubilee. Even tighter than the new, with some evil gorse and it's fair share of blind tee shots.

The Brit announcers are great (Sky/GC).  At one point they were commenting on the constriction of  one of the courses and one of them stated something to the effect that the management had to hire "Polish people" to do the mine clearing during construction.  This sent all them into a serious fit of the giggles, which lasted about 3-4 minutes.  You could hear them off mic trying to gather it in, but failing.  One of the funniest things I've seen or heard on a golf telecast.

Big Hatton fan, yes I've criticised him in the past especially when hammers down "spike marks" in anger when he misses a putt but I think he's good to watch. Off the course he's a very funny guy.

If he wins again that will be special.
