I'm in Atlanta for the week and was wondering if someone could recommend a good course? I would prefer good conditions.

1) What part of Atlanta & do you have wheels?
2) Which day(s) are you thinking?

Atlanta is a traffic nightmare, and none of us want to recommend a course that will result in drive time to/ fro exceeding the amount of time you'll spend on the course.

Some courses have recently - or are in the process of - punching greens right now.

I was a member at The Frog.  Awesome Tom Fazio design.  Not far from ATL and worth the drive.  Mirror Lake is also nice.

I'm guessing this comment was made in jest, but atlanta parks and recreation has done a really nice job with the city courses this year. Prices are down, the course condition is up, and I've yet to play a weekend round at Chastain Park or Browns Mill that took more than 4 hours!

Yeah, to echo the earlier post...where are you staying? How far do you mind driving? Generally speaking, the Bentgrass courses are going to be hit or miss if they've aerated for Fall. the Bermuda greens tracks should be okay

If you're staying inside the perimeter...I would suggest Wolf Creek down by the airport.

North...GA400 area, several options, Hampton Golf Village, and Chestatee are notables.

Northeast...I85 area, Reunion was punched about 3 weeks ago, but should be in good shape. The GA Club (out hwy 316) is always in great shape.

West...I20, The Frog was mentioned, can't go wrong there.

East...I20, Cherokee Run is very nice and normally in great shape.

OP, whynotgolf mentioned the usual suspects that you'd also find if you do a quick search.  This question gets asked maybe once every other week or so, which means you'd find some good suggestions, but mainly the same ones mentioned the post just above mine.

The truth is, public golf in Atlanta is decent, but can't hold a candle to the private options here.  If you're well connected or have plenty of cash to flash, you should try to get on at a private course.  If you're a regular Joe like many of us that fight the daily nightmare we call traffic, then pick a course based on where in Atlanta you'll be staying and definitely get a rental car because the public transportation will only take you so far.

Anywhere good south of the city? I'll be in Peachtree City and wondering if there's anything good.

Its been 4-5 years, but I enjoyed playing summergrove in Newnan. Prob the closest to Peachtree city.

Was in good shape both times I played there.
