As most of us know a huge drop off this year in events and prize money, they finally had a decent event in France last week with good cash on offer and two of the biggest tour players in Europe Davies and Reid don't bother to play. I know they can't play every week but the LPGA had a week off and  Evian is in France next week so very convenient to play both but these two have been very vocal about the lack of events and want sponsors to put up more money.

Mel Reid especially is very passionate and believes the girls product is as good as the men's but if you can't get a decent sized audience to watch either through tv or live on course the money will never flow. I get the feeling Reid believes they all work hard and put in the hours building a product and that should be sufficient for her and others to make a living, I may be wrong but she comes accros as needy and maybe her lack of success at something she is very very good at frustrates her but with a beautiful swing like hers the results are poor and mentally not up to it compared to the top ranked players.

Reid is currently an alternate for Evian.

Davies played a Legends event

Wow that shocks me she's 4th reserve , even more reason to play last week to try get into the field, 4 sponsor invites for Evian- 3 to amateurs and 1 for Natalie Gulbis. Catriona Matthew and a few others can't make the field either.
And a small field of 120 for a major is unusual considering sunset is still late in September.

LET is on its last legs. No sponsors, poor venues, weak schedule. Mel Reid said a while back that some players have regular jobs as the gaps between events mean very limited income. Charlie Hull was going to be its saviour but has not developed as much as her potential and spends most of her time in the USA.

It seems those with enough skill to compete in the LPGA, have done just that. Good move on their part. Bronte Law, Madelene Sagstrom, Georgia Hall, and so on.

Saw highlights of this event and lots of the players were going without a caddy.
