I don't buy PPVs. We can see Woods vs. Mickelson for free 15-20 times a year, just there's 70-150 others also playing.

I've paid for exactly one pay per view event.  That was a Mike Tyson fight.  Can't remember who the opponent was but it was a 1st round knockout.

I can't imagine how boring a pay per view of two people playing golf would be.....don't care who the two people are.  No thanks.

So Sports Illustrated has published pretty much all the details;

$24.99 cost, no fans on the course except for corporate big whigs, this sounds terrible!

after the RC debacle these 2 experienced, they have to do something to gin up some interest. So I expect something 'controversial' to occur between now and the match. probably some trash talking by each, maybe a "weigh in stare down" made up event.  Food Fight?

Anyone else think this is headed soon to "postponed"?  No new date announced...and never will be.

What a disaster.  Maybe I will start a gofundme to produce my own "PPV" of a local match between two 10's.  The 10's are the camera crew holding iphones, not the golfers - those are 12s!

Hmmm....I might be on to something.

Ok every time I hear about this it gets worse and worse.

I was certain I was going to pay to watch this.
Then they decided they didn't need to put up their own money.
Then they decided there would be no fans on the course.
Then I decided I'd just go play golf myself.

Every decision made about this thing has been awful.  So dumb.

I think it's less interesting after TW's win last month.  That win let a lot of his fans exhale and get on with life.  He doesn't need to beat Phil to show he's making progress.  In the same vein I think the Hero World Challenge will be less interesting this year.  Rusty broken Tiger v Shinnecock Phil was arguably at least a competitive match.  Resurrected Tiger v over the hill Phil is more likely to be a blowout, and in match play might end in 2 hrs. If it's included in our cable package I might leave it on in a room if anyone visiting for TG wants to watch it.

Why? He plays a fairly full schedule (for him) at this point. And if that's not enough, there's a billion YouTube clips of him actually in his prime...

Why would anyone pay that much money for a player definitely way past his prime?
Also, with no spectators?
I don't get it.
