Just looking for reviews on each of these apps. Really want to start improving with the strokes gained approach. Both seem legit just curious on some feedback from people who have used 1 or both.

Golfmetrics give you the "real" Strokes Gained calculations. And that's about it. Updates over the past year or so have it to where it gives pretty useful breakdowns of various way of looking through the strokes gained.

Does ShotByShot record left or right misses?

Because the only data Golfmetrics has is the distance for each shot and a categorical situation from the following list: Tee, Fairway, Green, Rough, Recovery, Sand, Penalty. It does not distinguish missing a fairway left vs. right or missing a green left/right/long/short.
Everything has its drawbacks, as the man said when his mother-in-law died, and they came down upon him for the funeral expenses.

Not just an app but I'd suggest you look at Game Golf. It calculates everything and records distance as well as GPS if you get the live version. Really helpful for me to see what driver I hit better, what my iron distances are, where my misses tend to be, and what irons I need to work on accuracy with.

Looking for some more input or opinions.

Ive done the golfshot, swingbyswing and even golfpad with tags (which was good) but i want more indepth stats

These 2 seem to be the best.

SBS seems good i did the 1 round demo. Gives u specifics on what to focus on. Me was driving and approaches from 50-100y. Was good.

Downside no driving distance etc.

But easy to use.

Havent tried golfmetrics.

Anyone use either of these 2 or something similar.

Again golfpad has a version of strokes gained but its ok. The stats from most other apps are useless. Thinks like FIR is useless. GIR is ok but without knowing specific weaknesses etc (i.e. what distance youre missing from) i find them mediocre at best.
