Personally I don't really believe in relying on GPS measurements, but this could be a great supplement to anyones game that already has a GPS enabled windows mobile device.
The courses are limited at this time and the truth is you'll probably have to add your own course, but thats the easy part.
Like I said, I just wanted to pass this on, and possible get some reviews from anyone thats tried it. Personally I don't have any golf planned for weeks, but this may give me a reason to sneak out for nine.

"Both FreeCaddie and FreeCaddie Pro run on Windows Mobile Smartphones or Pocket PCs with either built-in GPS or support for bluetooth and a separate Bluetooth GPS receiver. "
I have GPS enabled, etc... Just wondering.

They are working on Blackberry and Symbian Java based versions. I e-mailed them about it and they confirmed they were building new versions, and sent me this link to keep an eye on development;

The main knock on any iphone-based GPS is that it sucks the bejeezus out of the battery and you can't get thru a 5 hour round on one charge.
With a windows mobile based GPS, when the battery starts getting low, just replace it with a freshly charged backup.
Just wanted to throw that out there for those of you in that "iphone vs. alternative" debate, since it's a big negative on the iphone that I feel doesn't get discussed enough.

I have both an iPhone and WM (HTC Touch HD & Touch Cruise II).
I find the WM devices work better than the iPhone when it comes to accuracy and generally the GPS functionality in the WM devices seems to have an edge on the iPhone.
I am not saying that the Freecaddie application does not work on the iPhone - I just find it better implemented on the WM devices.
(And you're absolutely right about the battery issue).
