Just bought a O works #7 Tank off eBay. Put it on my swing weight scale and it came out to be around G7. I figured maybe it would come out a little bit high as the whole point is to choke down which I assume would artificially lower your "active" swing weight... but that seemed really high.

Unscrewed the top where the weight should go and found this:

Isn't there supposed to be a weight attached to this that hangs down into the shaft a little bit or is the whole grip itself heavy enough to provide the counter balancing? This little top piece came right off and then it was just tape. The cap itself weighs about 2g.

I use this in a Matt Kuchar armlock style, so I choke all the way down to end of the grip, which I measured to be 13'' from the top. If 1'' = 6SW points, would that mean I'm actually using the putter at like... A0? It doesn't feel like it.

Some Odyssey putters have the CounterCore-compatible grips but most don't come with the weight. The V-Fang I custom ordered from Callaway/Odyssey didn't have one, though I had one laying around from another grip. I just took it out over the weekend and had my best putting day in a long time, so YMMV.

Yeah I read there are separate kits, which makes no sense...

But if my math serves me right... choking down that much would make the club play at a ridiculously low SW (Even though it still feels pretty normal?) My guess is that it feels okay because the weight of the heavier grip is distributed over 13'' rather than a normal 80g grip, with 50g at the 38'' mark.

Yeah mine didn't come with the weight either so I just folded up 3 pieces of lead tape and put them in the top of the grip then screwed it back on ;)

Here I am thinking the red top of my 38’ tank 7 was the swing weight. Placebo anyone?

I think it's because the grip weighs more and acts as the counter weight. Mathematically my putter should be something ridiculous feeling without the 50g core up top. But... there's no core... and it still feels pretty much normal, so the grip itself must be extra heavy. I for one can't tell the difference in a short club between say D2 and D3 or 4, but I sure as heck could probably tell G5 and A5.
