Great deal on a great golf ball.
Can't use it in USGA sanctioned tournaments , other than that, nice deal.

Practice balls are treated as a logo ball by the usga. They are perfectly legal to be used. X-outs are not legal for tournament play. That's a solid deal for a decent ball.

Absolutely they can be used.  The only difference is they have the word practice on them.

Really ?  Good to know.
Unbeknownst to me, our local tournament had advised me in the past no X'out and no Practice golf balls to be used .

Super deal !  Better than the warehouse offering.
Now, why couldn't other OEM stamp their golf balls "PRACTICE" and sell it cheap ?
I don't need any golf balls for awhile but, may be picking up some .

This deal is along the lines of the Woot TM Lethal Practice ball from a few years back without the SKU/packaging mix up.  Very nice balls and even though I have a freaking golf ball closet of KSigs and KTreys, they sucked me into ordering a box.

Yes they can.

https://www.usga.org...AQidx=16&Rule=5

Rule 5-1

Status of "X-Out" and "Practice" Balls

Q.May I use an "x-out" ball or a ball stamped with "Practice" to play a round of golf?

A.Our present policy provides that if the List of Conforming Golf Balls or the One Ball Condition is in effect, a practice or logo ball may be used provided the other markings on the ball (i.e., pole and seam) correspond exactly to a ball listing on the current List of Conforming Golf Balls. Balls labeled with “PRACTICE” or a circled “P”, are essentially treated as a logo ball (such as a Mickey Mouse emblem). A player's name stamped on the ball is also acceptable. However, the original ball markings (i.e., pole and seam markings) must be readable in order for a Rules Official to determine whether that ball is on the List of Conforming Golf Balls. X-Out balls are not permitted to be used in any competition in which the List of Conforming Golf Balls or the One Ball Condition is in effect. However, if neither of these Conditions are in effect, X-Out balls may be used because all balls are presumed to conform unless they have been tested and found not to conform or are obviously non-conforming (e.g., too small or too heavy). (See Decisions 5-1/4).

So what's the difference between the regular and practice balls, other than the word Practice printed on them?

Nothing for the most part.  Maybe a blemish or two, but they are still a conforming golf ball and within the OEMs QA and the USGA.  The X-outs are those that may have had something happen to them during the manufacturing process that may have potentially made them non-conforming.

15 years ago you could get PRO V1s for $9.99 a dozen.  They were a steal as everyone thought they were a damaged ball.  Now you pay $30, I think both Titleist and the retailers caught on.

Got mine in last week.  While going through them I found something interesting on a couple.  They are being sold as new, but maybe a couple of refinished got into the bunch.  One had double stamping and another shows where someone put a permanent marker through practice and tried to clean it off.  Other than that they look good!
