That's almost always sound advice, but when there's not too much at stake, I like to have no-one else to blame but myself.
It's not obvious - especially on clubs that have already seen a bit of wear and tear. I try to minimise it using lead tape on the bending bar and hosel. I can pick up a club that I've worked on and find the marks, but someone else would I think need to go looking to notice.
The nerviest job I've done personally was a set of Maxfli Revs that I actually, shock horror, bought new. And they're not forged, and I wasn't sure to what extent the chrome plating was comparable, and they have a cavity back. I made some loft adjustments of up to 4* and they were fine too.
