Hello. I am from Bismarck, North Dakota and would highly suggest Hawktree golf course in Bismark, Bully Pulpit in Medora, and the Links of North Dakota in Ray. I will post all of the websites in order. North Dakota is an underrated state according to its golf courses. I love North Dakota and you will not be dissappointed with these great tracks.

Hawktree: http://hawktree.com/

Bully Pulpit: http://www.medora.co...golf/index.html

Links of North Dakota: The website is currently under construction.

Other courses you might want to take a look at are Riverwood in Bismarck and the Fargo Country Club (not like the movie and we do not have the annoying accents).

If you wanna golf in North Dakota I would strongly recommend Hawktree in Bismarck. It is fairly cheap, it costs around $65. I thought it was a very fun and challenging course that made you hit many different types of shots. Also, there are many different elevation changes. On one of the par 3's, you can't even see the green you are hitting at because you are so elevated, if you play the back tees. This course was ranked #19 on Golf Digest's list of the top 100 public courses in the country.

Some of the top courses in Northern Minnesota

Deacon's Lodge-Arnold Palmer design, very scenic and in superb condition
The Classic at Madden's-Similar to Deacon's Lodge, excellent condition

Each of these cost about $100 and are a couple of the top courses in Minnesota

All of these courses are great, but the nicest course I've golfed in either Minnesota or North Dakota is The Quarry at Giant's Ridge. It is located in the Northeastern portion of Minnesota on the Iron Range. It is an amazing course cut out of an old mining pit and is really unique. I can assure you have never golfed anything like it. It is currently ranked #16 on Golf Digest's top 100 public courses in the country. There is another course at Giant's Ridge called The Legend that is also top notch, and within a half an hour is another championship course called The Wilderness at Fortune's Bay.

Here is their website: http://www.giantsrid...courses/quarry/
Website for The Wilderness: http://www.fortunebay.com/golf/

Hope this helps. All of the courses I mentioned are great, but if I had to choose a trip I would have to go with Giants Ridge and golf The Quarry, The Legend and the nearby Wilderness at Fortune's Bay.

Feel free to ask questions as I have golfed pretty much all of the top courses in Northern Minnesota.

I'll tell you what I tell everybody who asks about Northern Minnesota golf: If this is going to be a trip strictly about golf, go to Giants Ridge/The Wilderness. The Quarry and The Wilderness (about 30 minutes apart) are both very, very good and among the top public courses in the state. The Legend at Giants Ridge isn't worth a trip by itself, but it's a really good third-best course. Plus there's the Fortune Bay Casino for a little night entertainment.

Now if you're looking for something a little more family oriented, Brainerd is a very good option. There's much more for the wife and kids to do and The Classic and Deacon's are both good and I think Golden Eagle is very underrated. My problem with Brainerd is that the value isn't that great. The three courses I mentioned are good and all at least come close to delivering in the value department. That said, The Pines and Preserve and the Legacy courses don't come close to delivering.

When compared with the Biwabik/Giants Ridge/Wilderness area, Brainerd falls far short in terms of value.

I haven't played the courses in far western NDak, but Hawktree is very good.

Hope that helps.

Giants Ridge (both courses) and the Wilderness at Fortune Bay are the best courses in northern Mn in my opinion. The Classic in Brainerd is very good also.

I know I'm late, but oh well.

I live in ND currently and have to disagree with your comment about ND being underrated for golf. The three you mentioned are the only courses worthwhile for a trip. Combine that with the courses being fairly spaced apart. Those courses are good, but seem out of the way from each other. North Dakota is bigger than people think when they come here, and the drives are horrendously boring.

I would check out Madden's Resort in Brainerd, like someone else mentioned. You get multiple courses in one location and aren't terribly far from other superb courses.
