I bought a 6-pw set of TaylorMade 300 forged irons(Fujikura TP-90 shaft) off Ebay. Today, I had a brief range session and I am really impressed with them.

They look really nice at address, no visible cavity of bothersome offset, little bigger blade size among players irons which gives me enough confidence. The feel was not as soft as my MP33 but softer than J-38 DPC(my gamer now). I could shape or control the trajectory better with these than my J-38 DPC even though I am not really good at doing it.

The forgiveness is close enough to my J-38 DPC but with better feel and control I will put them in my bag. Distance seems to be similar but I have to see on the course.

These seems to be almost perfect set of iron for my game at this time. Also, this kind of simple and clean cavity back designs such as Titleist 962, Maxfli Evolution are my favorite.

Anybody still use this old classic or similarly designed irons?

Yes I still have a set, don't currently play them but would not have any problems doing so.
Great design which in my book tick all the boxes. Size, offset, topline, look at address, feel, performance and playability are all very good.
One of the great players cavity irons of the last 20 years IMHO.

One of my playing partners brought out a mint set of 300 forged last week.  I could steal those from him and play them no problem. Just a gorgeous piece of machinery. They've been played 10 rounds. Still on the hunt for a set of tour issued Lehman box toes.

I have the Lehman (Miura) grind of the 300s.  Still a forgiving, very solid feeling iron.  Probably should sell since sitting in my spare bag and rarely get time anymore.

I had a set with flighted rifles and they were amazing!  Looking back, I really can't believe all of the really great iron sets I've had, and then sold looking for something better!

I frequent auctions, estate sales, etc, always on the look for golf treasures. About a year ago came across a new, in the box set of TM 300, with Reg Rifle shafts, actually customized 1/2 " long, my basic set up. Wife purchased for her late hubby when they first came out, but he had passed away w/out ever breaking them out of the box. The rubber grips actually were beginning to dry rot. Got them for $50.00. I re gripped them with w/ navy Iomic grips. To this day, still a beautiful, great feeling forging on par w/anything I have played.

Other than non conforming grooves, if they're in good condition they should be as good as any other player's cb.

The 300 forged was a solid iron design...as good as anything forged and non-gimmicky out there today. I had two sets. One was a satin j market set that was one of my favorite iron sets ever. Stolen from the trunk of my car in 2005.  If anyone ever comes across a set of TM satin 300 forged irons with titleist Nippon ns pro 100 shafts in them.....theyre mine.  The fci was a great set as well with better feel to them when hit dead on the button but a different blade shape and look at address.  The fci irons were as good as any forged Mizuno blade Ive played in terms of how they felt when hit flush.

I played the 300 forged iron for the first time on the course today.

The feel is somewhat crisp compare to Mizuno forging. The leading edges are sharp so easy to dig on fat shots. It is up to half club short compare to J-38 DPC.

At the end, I like TM 300 forged iron better than J38 DPC so far. It is almost perfect balance between solid feel and forgiveness for my game. TM 300 irons are more sold while J38 DPC irons are more forgiving. Distance difference might be because of weaker loft. I really like the size of the blade also.

I will play these irons rest of this year.

Could anybody compare this to J40 CB, J15 CB, MP53 irons?

They're hard to find these days. I have a set of '04 RAC CB's that are as close as I've come to duplicating the 300's. I don't play the CB's anymore.
