First off, I'm not trying to offend anybody by saying this, I'm just in business and like to learn/discover business models.

So I'm pretty convinced how the Scotty Cameron online Gallery shop works.  So they never hit the open market (non-cameron club) ever 'not sold'...to make it appear like there's such a huge demand that people snatch up what they can get there hands on.   But this isn't the case.  There are often several putters that don't sell immediately to cameron club members.  So rather than show these as "available" and exploit weakness in the Circle T market, they offload the unsold ones through non-affiliates via Ebay (and other markets I'm sure).

I've seen multiple times of this offloading "sold" putters (aka, not sold) via ebay.
Ebay user "Golferhere" just posted several of the "sold" putters from the current gallery release on ebay.  It's clear they aren't a club flipper because they don't have anything in it (profit margin).  They are simply trying to sell them (aka offload them).

So why is this so interesting to me...because normally Scotty follows the model of selling fewer of a limited item than the demand for it (yes, like Jordan shoes) but in this case they are over supplying the market (at that price point) and discretely offloading the excess via third party.

Once again, not trying to offend any circle T owners or Scotty Cameron die hards with this post.  Just find the business model interesting.

Is there any discount on the Gallery items if you have an account with Titleist?  I used to be in the business but I am not anymore.  I've also been to the Gallery but that was after I was in the golf business so I don't know if I could have purchased things in there for a wholesale price or not if I had a current Titleist account.

It could just be a local pro with an account buys everything up and then resells it.

The seller you referenced is in SD so he probably just stops in, buys them and then resells them.

Last time I was down there they had two of them on hand but the guy at the counter said it'll be gone within the hour.  While I was in there he pulled one of them from the display because it sold online.

I'm sure Titliest has some sort of angle but I don't think it's as thought out of a process as you think it is in terms of trying to jack with demand.

No, there isn't.  Titleist treats the Cameron Gallery differently.  I've tried this with my Titleist account, and there is no process to order/purchase anything from Cameron's Gallery at "wholesale".  I have to purchase it the same way anyone else does, through the Wednesday releases or when Club Cameron posts it up, at the same prices seen by all.

The flippers get those putters and sell the headcover for a couple hundred bucks and the pull the grip and sell that separately as well. If it comes with a smoked shaft, that's another item to pull and sell.

I have been to the Gallery once and they had a bunch of garage, circle Ts, limiteds, etc. available for sale for lots of $$$.  While it may be hard to get exactly what you want, generally I do t think they are easy to get if you live close by.

Thanks for that info, not sure why you gave it or what it means to help answer the OPs question, but let's go with it.

The reason I asked about if you could use your Titleist account at the Gallery is because you used to be able to use it at the online store.  There even used to be a little note on the studio store website that said if you are an authorized Titleist retailer please call *00-XXX-XXXX for pricing and availability or something along those lines.

Apparently that's not the case anymore.

Like what?  You can use a Titleist account to buy at wholesale.  Yeah, that one's way out there.

The one about piecing out the shaft, grip and HC is a little bit of a stretch but certainly not too far from believable.

I guess I could go with you in regards to the OP thinking Titleist is trying to toy with demand but I don't think there are lots of tin foil hat theories in here.  I don't even think there are lots of theories in here other than those three.

I don't know Titleists marketing strategy at all, and honestly don't care. But to think it's "tinfoil hat" territory to think a company doesn't consider supply and demand ideas for their products is ridiculous. All companies making a product do to some extent or another.
