Some history about me, came back to golf at the start of 2017 after about a 12 year layoff. The journey back to decent golf has been difficult and my swing has often been bi-polar! LOL. I'm a Marine with a back that acts up sometimes, along with a cranky left knee and right shoulder.

I shot a 92 back in January & several 44s and 45s for 9 holes over the spring, but my goal for 2018 was to finally break 90.

Today after my Wife and I took a morning lesson at our home course, we played 18 holes and I shot my first 89!  48 on the front nine (played sloppy on the the first two holes and three putted the par3 7th.) and 41 on the back nine.

My approach this year has been to play more strategically, away from hazzards, lay-up rather than go for the green from tough lies etc... then just pitch or chip on when a little short and take the bogey rather than try to do too much.  I had no 7s or 8s on the card today and I parred four holes on the back nine. My chipping, pitching and approach shots were all failry solid today, so overall, for me...pretty good day.

I feel like I left some strokes out there so my new goal is to break 90 at least two more times this year... Gotta have goals.

Wifey shot a personal best of 102. She started playing golf only last spring. :-)

Oh...and my new Titleist AP1 irons have certainly helped my game...:-P

Congrats on attaining that goal. Keeping it in the 80's is a fun time, you leave some shots out there but not posting a snowman or somthing is half the battle.
Helping the wife break 100 is part of the next goal (just donʻt tell her).

If you shot 41 on the back nine, then there’s no reason you can’t make 85 your next target!

Congrats on hitting the target. And I agree with the other guys, shoot for 85!!!  I am shooting for 85 myself and keeping the big numbers off the card gets you under 90 most of the time!
