The tee times

https://www.pgatour..../tee-times.html

A stellar field led by defending champion Bryson DeChambeau takes on the TPC Deere Run.

And by stellar I mean a SoF of 99, by far the worst of any non opposite field event on the PGA Tour this year. The Quicken Loans had a SoF of 167. This event will have a field somewhere between the Spanish Open and the South African Open. Thankfully, you still get the minimum of 24 OWGR points for first place. It could be worse, it could be the Shot Clock Masters (24 first place points with a S0F of 6!)

Zach Johnson and Steve Stricker will be there to get their annuity and a high finish.

It was 5 years ago that a 19 year old named Jordan Spieth won, will Joaquin Niemann do the same?

I'm interested in all the ex-Illini there this week: Stricker, DA Points, Nick Hardy and Dylan Meyer.

The PGA Tour website had a story about Dylan Meyer today...

Iʻll take the Deere any day. The only player i would recognize in the Spanish Open would be Sergio and Louie in the South African Open. ; )

Interested in following Dylan Meyer's progression.  He was a guest on one of the Talk of the Tour podcasts a couple weeks ago, and it was an interesting interview.

My money is on Ryan Moore this week.  He's had a quiet year, but he has started playing well lately.  Tied 13th last week at the Greenbrier.

Really can't believe sub-100 SOF for the main tour event of the week. TW took a lot of grief for not getting a better field.

I understand that most that are playing this week are doing so in Europe.

Look for Stricks to post a top 3 finish, which means another year of thinly-veiled Stricker threads from SkiSchoolPro. :)

Tough draw with the Open Championship the following week.  But...kudos to the people of the Quad Cities as this event raises more money for local charity than any other event on the PGA schedule.

Headed out Friday.  Funny story, hospitality badge for Friday which is also your ticket has Spieth pictured WHO WILL PROBABLY NEVER PLAY HERE AGAIN and not the defending champ Dechambeau.  Thought that was odd.

Aaron Wise is my pick.

Unless the schedule changes and it isn't the week before the Open, he won't play this again.

That's why the field is "sub par" or a step above a buy.com event, the Open.  Next year it isn't sandwiched between a new event in Minneapolis (3M) and he Open with a WGC event the week after.

Not complaining, this event knows exactly what it is, is comfortable with it and offers the charter to the Open.  Crowds will be good, they
L raise tons of money and Bill Macatee will be here instead of Nantz.  I like Macatee.

I always like the John Deere. They have been a good sponsor, but as others have said the tournament is up against the Open Championship prep.

Was paired with Meyer a couple weeks ago, kid has some game and will eventually win on tour.

I like Niemann this week. Card locked up means less pressure on him.

Given how we'll he's played this year with the pressure of trying to secure his card he might be able to play even better than he has already

Does anyone know if John Deere Classic merchandise (polo's hats, etc) are available for purchase online? Thanks! I'd love to pick something up for my brother.

Not to mention his ulcerative colitis, which I think he has to get multiple hour treatment for every couple of months. So if he is playing in a tournament that coincides with his treatments he has to plan ahead to schedule the appointment in whatever city he finds himself in.

I agree. His approach to the game conflicts with how a lot of others approach the game, including our intrepid announcers, so what they don't understand they...

DeChambeau is withdrawing, some sort of injury, had to back off of a shot earlier and guess it's bothering him enough to W/D. Looks like it's something with the right shoulder.
