I am taking the family in July for a medical conference.
What would be the two best courses within 20 miles or so to play?
Thanks in advance,

I have only played in the area once and it was at the south course at Whitefish Lake Golf Club. It was very enjoyable, well run, and the views were great as well. When do you plan on going?

The Whitefish Lake courses are good courses. I like the south better than the north. However, it will have the big 4th of July tournament. The Big Mountain Golf Club, about 10 miles south of Whitefish on US Highway 93 is a great course.

The Whitefish Lake course's restaurant is one of the best restaurants in the area. Other good ones in Whitefish are Tupello Grill and Wasabi, for sushi. Mambo Italiano is a good italian restaurant in Whitefish. In Kalispell, I recommend Capers and North Bay Grill.

There are some beautiful courses on the south end of Flathead Lake (probably an hour drive from Whitefish). Whitefish is north of Flathead Lake. If you have the time, the Polson Country Club (public) is fantastic.

On the north side, Eagle Bend is gorgous also.

For family activities, there is a waterpark in Columbia Falls that is awesome. Glacier Park is nearby too. I'd seriously recommend about 3 days of free time on either side of your convention.

Any of these responses coming from Montana residents? I will be moving to Helena in about 6 weeks and would love to get in contact with some golfwrx's there! Thanks

Played Whitefish Lake (36 holes) and Buffalo Hill. I'd go back and play them again anytime I am there.

I don't live in the Flathead area, but have played golf there. If you are going to Helena you are not too far from Old Works, a Jack Nicklaus signature course just west of Butte in Anaconda. Their website is oldworks.com It was a mine reclamation project and is manicured like a tour course, pretty reasonable too. As far as Helena is concerned, I don't know about courses there.

Thanks again for the recommendations!
With the sunset so late, what is usually the last time you can go out?

During the first week of July, you can start at 5:00 and get 18 in. You wil have sufficient light until 9:20 or so.

If you are willing to drive 30-45 minutes, Eagle Bend in Big Fork is a great course. If you are down there, Show Thyme is a great restaurant.
