I am heading to London in August and while there driving out to play Worplesdon and Walton Heath while I'm there. Does anyone know of any more hidden gem type courses under £50/round?

Assuming you are well aware of all the 100GBP or higher rounds out there, I'll offer up a few, although cannot claim the first two are hidden really:

Royal Ashdown Forest - 75
Huntercombe - 78

Reigate Heath (9 holes) - 22.50 for 9/45 for 18
Cuddington - 65
Bandstead Downs - 40

Burhill (Old)
Camberley Heath

A bit further away £50 will get you a twilight round at Hankley Common or Frilford Heath.

I don't know what the current green fee is at New Zealand, but that's one of my favorites. You have to call or e-mail them for green fee info or tee times as they don't have a website as far as I know.

I'll second the suggestions of Hankley Common, Burhill Old, Camberley Heath and Reigate Heath

Others to consider are Effingham and a little further away is Tandridge.

I'd second the Huntercombe suggestion.  Amazing set of greens.  Great history was owned and designed by Willie Park he threw everything he had at the design.

Worplesdon is a great course with nice history ! I played it years ago with some good friends.

All three Ws (West Hill, Worplesdon and Woking) do twilight rounds for around 65GBP. All great courses. Woking probably my favourite, but Worplesdon has a great vibe and an awesome back nine.

Venture south a little to Hever Castle. Holes 11-13 are 3 of the best you'll ever play. A great course that I miss playing!

Puttenham, a little hidden gem just outside London,
30 minutes or so traffic dependant,
Camberley heath, lovely course, you will not go wrong with any of those.

I played Merist Woods 3 years ago.  Note that I was paying for 8 colleagues so the course was selected for financial reasons.  Ended up being a decent little track.

Hi,

Hindhead in Hampshire near the Surrey border is probably a bit over 50 but is a great track. Well worth a go.

Please don't play here. American parkland style course which is in terrible condition.
