Just bought this TaylorMade M2 2017 on eBay from GlobalGolf as the seller. It’s a 9.5 Stiff with Fujikura xlr8 56 shaft. It looks good but after hitting it at the range the feel and sound were much different than the M2 I hit in the store.

I brought it into Golf Galaxy and asked a few staff to hit it and both agreed it was way different in sound and feel. More dense on impact. Some pics below.

Curious the community’s thoughts, real or fake? A big difference is in the serial number printing. Mine on left, demo from store on right.

The font for the serial number definitely looks a bit suspect. Seems larger than the 10.5 beside it and compared to my M4 and M1.

Perhaps had hotmelt added, which changed the sound and feel.

Probably because it was hit everywhere on the club but the center of the face. Sheesh, that bottom picture.

OP nothing to worry about one is a pre K serial which was a flop. Taylormade came out with the K serial and the feel and sound changed. Itís legit

@droppingbombs thanks for that info. The shoddy serial number engraving and big difference in sound/feel have me wondering. Both heads are the same weight. I’ll call TM and get more info.

The engraving is shoddy at best and you can feel it when running your finger over it. You can feel the serial number on other m2s I’ve seen. Paint on the other two photos looks sloppy too.

It looks legit to me.  The overall looks and graphics are just too good imo to be a fake.  I've seen serial # fonts change from club-to-club, may have to do with time period produced, different factories, etc.

That serial number looks horrible. Its not even straight/aligned properly and almost looks like it was done by hand. The gaps between the characters are inconsistent.

No doubt.  Fake.  The serial number gives it away.

I'd stay away from fakes whenever. The only experience I've ever had with fakes left me with bad loft's, lies and face angles, none of which were as obvious as I would have thought. I actually had to measure them all to find them ought. Fakes can hide faults in more places than one would expect and those faults can cause more swing problems to be in places that cause more game problems. Rather surprising how many faults can pop up in one's swing. If it's fake, stay away.

I sent it back and they refunded me. Since I bought it from them via eBay they could send a replacement since the return process was all through eBay.

They actually deemed the club as authentic. I still don’t believe it given the sound and feel coming from it. But they can tell me it was real and I’d never know if they really think that so they gotta say it’s real.

I've had 2 new M2's, and my buddy also has one, all were 2017's, 2 with "k" serial numbers, and one with a 'B".  They all sound different, the "B" was muted, one "K" was louder and my buddies "K' the loudest.  3 diifferent sounds. Sound affects percieved feel

I think Taylormade has some QC issues

Looks real to me, just not taken care of very well. Serial number etching can vary a little depending on where and when it was made. I have a 2017 M2, but if I had to buy another I would get a 2016 M2, they are pretty much universally regarded as the better driver.

I have a 2017 M2 D type with a B serial number.  It has a muted sound.

The serial number on mine is written in the smaller font.

Mine had the B serial and definitely sounded more muted.
