Fortunate to have a friend that works at a golf superstore, last weekend i was able to hit all the new drivers at a range with tracking.
Really liked the Callaway Rogue, TM 3/4 was good but the Ping G400 won the day. Even better than the G400Max. Most forgiving and longest driver i have ever hit - period. Love the matte finish, donʻt care about the turbulators or dragonfly stuff. The paint shifting Alta shaft works well but going with the Aldila X-torsion shaft.

I had the Epic, Rogue, XR16 Pro's and more plus about 4 shafts and finally took them all to a driver fitting, trying to figure out why I could not hit the driver as long or with the right height (hit too low) and why I always hit a fade now so less distance.  Nothing seem to help (head/shaft combo) so I told the guy the other driver I was interested in hitting is the G400 so he got one with the stock shaft and boom.  The height was great and no struggles to hit it right from the start, distance was better so I sold all the Cally heads, shafts and bought the G400.  I still fade it some but not as much and working on trying to get a draw.

I really wanted to like the Epic and Rogues and tried them a number of times (bought and sold) but I just couldn't get them to do anything but low burner shots most of the time.  Once in a great while I would hit it good and it would go some distance but too inconsistent for me to play.  I like the technology and do think they can be longer than other drivers for sure!

I agree; the Epic is a really good driver, with a lot of ways to tweak the setting and ball flight.

That said, I did a two-hour fitting in January, in which I hit the M1, the Epic, and the G400, each with multiple setups.  The G400 was clearly the best fit FOR ME; picked up 3 mph of swing speed and approx. 10 yards of overall distance over not only my old G30, but either the M1 or the Epic.  The Epic was closer, but not as good on either distance OR dispersion, plus it cost $100 more.

Another vote for the g400. That head pretty much blew the rest out of the water on dispersion and forgiveness. Rogue was a little longer on center nuts on some swings but the dispersion just wasn't there.

Must be a reason why the G400Max is the top selling driver in many shops, while the G400, G400LST, G400SFT donít  even crack the top 5 in many shops since introduction.

I had the same experience.

For the OP, try the G400 line. You may not get the fastest or longest out of them but I've found them to be the most consistent.

"just not working" is also pretty vague lol.

Have you set the hosel in upright aka "D" setting?

I own both the epic and the G400 LST. The epic has been an experiment, the G400 was my gamer until late, but will never leave the bag for long. I finally dialed the epic in to a point where I am finding as many fairways as I was with the G400 and I picked up about 10 yards in total distance with the epic. For me the improvement was due to going to a slightly heavier shaft with the PX HZD in the epic.  To be totally honest I don't think you can go wrong with either driver. If you want to take the time to work through the adjustments with the epic and possibly a few shaft choices you will get it to a point of consistency you are looking for. If you simply want to move on to something different the Ping G400 series is outstanding!. My G400 is point and shoot I have used the Ping Tou65 shaft in my last three Ping drivers going all the way back  to the Ping G30 and it suits me well. The Ping G00 is the best combination of forgiveness and distance in a driver I ever played. The simplicity of the Ping make it very easy to dial in. The epic takes time along with some understanding of cause & effect to get it dialed in but when you do it is a beast off the tee. Good luck with your search.

Used the Epic for a while, but currently game a G400Max. The Max is so much easier to hit it is unreal. Distance wise the Epic  is probably a few yards longer on the good shots, but on average the Ping is probably longer for me.

The epic may be a lighter head than your BB. When I started with the epic I experienced some two way misses, after I made a few adjustments and installed a PX HZRD 65 it became much more consistent for me. In my opinion the Ping G400 series works for the masses.I you have a idea of the correct head to start with the G400 series you have over half the battle won. The stock shaft options are great starting points as well with Ping. A leas it has ben my experience, so I haven't found a need to go outside the standard shaft offerings from Ping.

I won a Callaway Rogue in a drawing at a tournament earlier this year (that was right handed) and took it down to PGA Superstore and tested a lefty version and a G400 Max (I was coming from a PING G LST and had tried the G400 LST last year and other than a much better sound did not add enough benefits to move to it so that is why I chose the two I started with).  Honestly could have flipped a coin as both were about equal in distance and dispersion for my swing.  Then as he was setting up a Taylormade M4 driver for another customer I said why not and asked him to set me one up.  It produced much better numbers in both categories for me.  I even went back to the other two thinking I just got warmed up, nope same numbers as before.  Went back to the Taylormade and the numbers improved again so that is what I walked out with.  With all that said not trying to push you to Taylormade just be open minded and perhaps try a couple different brands along with the PING G400 (which is a great driver) and see what works for your swing.

I own both an Epic Sub and a G400 LST. The Epic is the gamer and the G is the back up. I could either way myself.

OP I love my Epic. Just love it.

But...

1. I don't know even one person who plays Ping and speaks negatively about the brand.

2. They are HIGH quality. With incredible support after the sale.

3. They really do offer some great looking equipment.

4. They hold their value which isn't common in golf equipment.

5. It's fun to try new stuff.

So, I say go for it. Life's short, it's your money and if it makes you happy - why not?

Let us know how things work out.
