Just got an email from MG golf offering these at a $19.99/dozen price. They are a 4-pc ball. Is this too good to be true?

MG often has deals like this. It's a legit 4 piece ball likely similar but slightly different to their Chrome ball. Eventually somebody will chime in and say this is the ball Phil was actually playing when...

If you feel like gambling not knowing true playing characteristics it's a nice deal on a likely tour level golf ball.

I'm gonna do it. At worst it would be a nice cold weather ball. Free shipping with 4 doz. How bad could it be although it may be "too much" ball for me.

I've taken advantage of the MG offerings in the past and scored some fine balls in the Callaway Chrome Speed.  Great spin, more than adequate distance, and even made an ace with one a couple of years ago.  By buying them six dozen at a time I was able to get used to them and kept them in play for over two years.  Eventually bought 12 dozen and even have a few left.  Don't be afraid of what is offered.

Good luck and have fun.

It's only available by direct email.  I played them last night and like them a lot. Went to order more and can't find the email. I bought 4 doz. thankfully.

I bought a few dozen of the Speed as well and they were great balls.

I found this quote in another thread -  "Higher spin rate off all clubs; that's what we were told during the Callaway ball factory tour in October. A lot of the Asian players play the higher spinning version.  Furyk also plays the same or very similar ball.  Apparently they feel that the slight loss in distance is offset by the greater ability to shape ball flight and get the ball to check-up on short shots".  http://www.golfwrx.c...ay-chrome-tour/

A thread from 2017 on the subject - http://www.golfwrx.c...ay-chrome-tour/

I bought a couple dozen of the Ryo version. Perfectly fine tour level ball. I donít love the Ryo markings all that much so Iíd recommend the other version. Certainly punches above a $20/dozen price point.

I bought some of these in Thailand a couple years ago. I didn't mind the feel (very much like the CSX), though I didn't need the extra spin, so that's why I still have half a dozen in the box.
