Didn't seem like any of them would disagree(Maybeee Nobilo somewhat) that the better player throughout their career is Phil. I say this emphatically, NO WAY Norman can be considered a better player than Phil!

You guys agree?

Phil wins by a huge margin.........but Norman was the best driver of the ball EVER........and had the worst luck of anyone who ever played at an elite level.

I generally enjoy Nobilo (and still do) but his defense of Norman was blatant homerism. And before the first wise guy jumps up and points out that they are from two different countries, yes, I know that, but I’m sure most here will understand what I mean.

I cant argue this. Especially the driver..

norman's best combined year was 36 ... other best years were 64, 42, 60, and 51 ... that would be in his early to late 30s ... jack bettered/equaled that in his early 40s, finishing 23, 57, 44, and 65 ... no records were kept before the 1980 season ... jack was the greatest driver ever ...

Points for Greg Norman

1. spent 331 weeks as the world #1 compared to Phil's 0
2. PGA Player of the Year once, Phil 0
3. Led the PGA Tour money list 3 times, Phil 0
swing is irrelevant, score is everything

just say NO.... to practice swings

I can't lie..I'm not seeing how Phil is in the running for top 3 of all time.
Walter Hagen..11 majors/45 tour victories
Sam Snead 7 majors/ 82 tour victories
This is an interesting conversation and I would like to hear the rationale of how Phil is close to the top 3 of all time.
There is no doubt Phil would have won countless more tournaments without the presence of Tiger, but unfortunately a prediction is not a verifiable statistic.

All great points, however in defense of Phil, there was this guy named Tiger he had to tangle with his entire career almost. I'm not sure Greg had anyone close to the talent Phil has had to deal with...

well.. you have to add in his US AM  title..( once a major in itself) his individual NCAA champ titles.. His PGA win as an AM... Masters Low AM.. Haskins awards (3) ...NCAA team champs,   and on and on....  if he completes the career grand slam hes no doubt top 10 all time in every sane persons book... In my book hes auto top 5 all time if he gets it.. And unless swayed otherwise id give him the top 3 vote....No doubt if he tacked on another masters for 7 Majors to tie Snead..

My reasoning is simply competiton...  Hagen was great.. But did he have the competiton that Phil had ?  I dont think so ..

Correct me if Iím wrong but Phil was never runner up to Tiger in a major so I donít see how he would have won more w/o TW.

Phil also only has a very limited number of runner ups in normal events if I recall correctly.

Is he? Just curious since Phil is always ahead of him on the yearly golfer earnings list. Since Arnie and jack are usually way up there under tiger Iím assuming they consider business and endorsements??
