Okay,  Not looking for the extremes.   Say a seven iron hit 160 yards with little or no breeze.  Assuming a well struck draw goes out straight and as it rises, it turns, then falls fairly straight down.  Do you play it to turn 10 feet, 15 feet, 5 feet?  And, assuming a shot that starts turning right away and turns all the way to ground is some degree of a hook.

With a 7 iron, mine turns about 5 yards. I don’t think there’s one correct answer though; I know guys that can consistently hit a 15 yard draw and guys that hit a 2 yard draw.

A perfectly struck 7 iron for me will draw about a yard, yard and a half. It doesn't happen all the time, but when it does, it's a thing of beauty.

Agree with above answers.

There is no “perfect” amount of turn. Varies for each person.  I like my mid irons to turn very softly. Maybe 1.5- 3 yards. 5-9 feet is plenty.

More than 3 yards is becoming a hook to me and only meant for unusual circumstances.

Ideally the same amount as the last 10 draws I hit.

Under that definition I've never hit the perfect draw.

I like my fades or draws to look like they just fall off to one side or the other.  I'm used to playing small greens and a lot of movement either way will miss the green.

Guy at our course made it to the US Am pubLinks at Bandon Dunes several years ago, missed the cut though and didn't make it to the match play part. He plays a sliding draw as his stock shot. Very repeatable for him.

A perfect draw curves the exact amount I want it to curve. Some are just a tiny amount and some are much more. It all depends on what I want the ball to do when it lands. If your looking for a stock shot curvature, I would keep it small because you need to be able to use that shot anywhere. I play a lot of tight courses where anything more than 10 yds will not work.

I like seeing some substantial movement.  To a middle pin, I'm probably aiming right edge. Our greens are pretty small so that would leave me playing for about five or so yards of movement.  Probably double that off the tee with driver.

Once in while it even works out the way I hoped.

I'm gonna sound like a boring version of a Dos Equis meme on this one, but...

I don't usually play a draw, but when I do, it's about 4-5 yards. With the driver it's about 20. However, intentional draws are pretty incosistent for me, so I pretty much always play straight shots or fades.

I think that people underestimate the amount their ball actually curves! A true 2-3 yard draw is just about imperceptible (aka looks like it is dead straight). Most times I hit that shot it isn't intentional, it just happens as a result of a good swing. If I'm thinking of drawing the ball, it is definitely going to sling right to left pretty significantly.

that would be a severe dogleg right, cut the corner unless it's 300 to carry.

Yesterday is was 35 yds with an 8i. The ball was a foot above my feet and I had solid trees between me and the flag 170 yds away. Ball ended up just short of the front edge for the eagle chip that we lipped out. Yes, it was a Best-Ball outing. Wouldn't try that in a personal round.

Totally agree with this comment. I play very frequently, and with players of a wide range of skill. I have never seen an 8 capper that hits it straight, or consistently one shape even for a full round....

10yd's of draw is a pretty straight shot for a 7iron or longer club. I find that players that hit 20 yards draws play more consistently than players hitting a "5 yard" draw. If you have the club face quite closed to the path on average, your std deviation are almost always going to be the same shape. Whereas people who hit it straighter struggle to commit to lines when what feels like a draw can out of the blue turn into a fade.

Very true! I find that for relatively non-stressful, stock shots I can hit that nice 5 yard draw, although it is more a unintentional subconscious thing. When I step over a shot where I feel like I'm going to poop myself (which are the most important shots IMO), I am definitely going to commit to a significantly bigger draw if the shot allows.

I'm doubtful people can see 3 ft of draw on a 160 yard carry.

5-10 yards (baby draw)
When I am driving well, I love a straight to baby draw shot.
