I'm no great Garcia fan, but I must admit I'm slightly pulling for him at present, if for no other reason than he's able to make a proper follow through...

That swing of Goydos' is actually grating on my nerves.

That's freakin' hilarious. The first person he thanked was Tiger Woods for not being there :)

NASCAR here we come......................well we just had the better driver today, that new tour Burner with the pop up pistons and the four on the floor was just too much for this course to handle......this addidas clima cool really kept the pressure off of me.

No lie! Shameless plugs for his ball and driver. Too bad his putter was a Scotty and the losing putter was a Spider. How weird is that?

My new Adidas belt held up my britches really well and my Black Tour LTDs really lowered my center of gravity to where I could make solid contact.

As Villa says, I think Fred will have a 588 60-degree wedge in his hands when he's on his deathbed...

I've seen him using allsorts of sand wedges in recent times (Callaway X Forged, Vokey) but I thought I saw the yellow blob of a CG14 on one pitch shot he hit yesterday...

Fred could have finally worn the grooves out on the 588 wedge...I remember him saying that was the reason he finally put his old Lynx Parallax irons away after almost 10 years of constant play. He was hitting those old-school lofts modern distances. Still love to watch his swing. Amazing stuff for an "older" guy ;-)

The monkey off his back will be when he wins a major. Or up against you know who. He played well down the stretch but it makes that shot on 17 a whole lot easier when its a playoff and the guy dumps the ball in the wa wa before you.

Nice job Sergio and I don't think it would have made a bit of difference had Tiger been there he has certainly not been a factor as of late at Sawgrass unless I am forgetting something.

I would also like to say that the new reax shaft really put the hammer down today. We were runnin hard and managed the TP Tour Black balls really well too. We thought about changin balls after 16 but the crew thought I could go one more lap with it...........The dasani water really did the job today too.

You win! I couldn't stop laughing! Changing balls on 16! Classic!

And to those who think we're hatin' on Sergio, far from it. You always have to give props to the winners. I'm actually very happy he won. What is really funny is that he even admitted that Tiger wasn't there and that definately didn't hurt.

I just saw tape of Sergio being driven off the 17th hole after the playoff. He was in tears. How can you not be after not winning in over 3 years when you were supposed to be the next Seve?

congrats sergio...glad to see him win as i've been a fan since '99 Medinah.

about the equipment props...for a forum where everyone is SOOO into the equipment side of the sport...seems ironic to knock a player when he acknowledges the performance of what's in his bag. he ranked first in driving accuracy and GIR and he specifically mentioned his driver and the performance of his ball in the wind - seems to me the props were deserved. he probably also has a lot of influence on the development of products since he's TM's #1 player.

Well first off I clearly heard him also thank his putter which is clearly not a taylor made stick. They must have shown a 100 close ups. I am sure that made TM real happy. Also I think it is interesting to note that with all the hype around the spider most players have switched back to there old putters or to something different. IE Toms, Sergio, K. Perry and JB Holmes. In fact aside from Goydos I don't think I saw almost anyone rolling one. Guess that little fizz is over with. In reality I seriously think that Sergio felt that his equipment played a part in his win. Remember, this is not basketball or football where you do not use anything other than a ball. Your equipment plays a huge part in your game IE the reason this site exists. If you honestly are nieve enough to think that the only thing running through his mind post win was helping out taylor made your insane.

Perhaps you need an intelligence makeover.

Sergio may have been great from tee to green, but in the end, he won with the putter - see that key par putt on 18th to force the playoff? And see how many times Sergio kissed that putter at the end?

Looks like Scotty Cameron is not paying him to use that old putter? The TV showed that the word Scotty Cameron had no paint fill so that it is not easily visible?
Will Scotty claims on his website that another of his putter won the Players Championship?

Personally, I think he won because he finally wore an outfit that didn't make him look like a bowl of Fruit Loops!

Think how many times he'd have won by now if he'd have just stuck to basic colors!

Of course it will be counted on the Cameron website he is very proud when one of his products helps with a win as well he should be as should any clubmaker or manufacturer.

I don't think so sport. People were just having fun because it sounded like NASCAR. I see what you are saying, but people like yourself took some comments WAY too seriously.

Yes equipment plays a big part, but please no one was denigrating Taylor Made.

Perhaps you need a sense of humor :)

Sergio won because he is truly one of the best out there and finally he has learned to putt, i've said it for yr's that when he does get the putting right, he can easily knock Tiger off the top spot and even Tiger has said that before.

Put down the whiskey...back up from your keyboard...take a deep breath...and delete your post.

1) Post ANYTHING that Tiger EVER has said about Sergio beating him. You are talking about a guy who at the drop of a hat in an ESPN interview looked right in a camera and infatically said he was the best ever. I believe the question was Jack or Tiger, his answer was "me."
2) He was last in putting coming into the 4th round. Last. Last. Last. Even after the 4th round where he made a few more putts he was still close to last place. I would far from call that "learning how to putt" Reality of the situation is man he should have won this tournament by 10 strokes as good as he was hitting it.
3) How in the world can you say he will "easily" knock off Tiger? Are you sure that was what you wanted to type? Guys this is a players championship. Far cry from a major. Great field? Yes. However there was one guy who didn't happen to play that just so happens to be a pretty damn good player.

There is a reason he thanked Tiger for not showing up. Post this when he wins multiple majors. As of now he is no more prepared to "knock off" Tiger than Mickelson or anyone else in the top 10 for that matter.

A 5 foot putt on the 72nd hole is not learning how to putt my friend.

Tiger would LOVE to have Sergio in the final group of a major. He would eat him alive. Let us not forget who we are talking about here. This is the same guy who spit in a cup and blamed everyone under the sun for not winning the British Open other than himself.

It is going to take a lot more than a players championship and a witty acceptance speech to win me over.

he has a great driving and iron game. he still sucks at putting though... you could tell he was very emotional after the win. props to him though for winning.
