Should be some entertaining matches today

Big fan of the televised NCAA's and I think the move to match play was a good move

Reminds me of why I like sweet 16 basketball but not the pro game

Go Pokes!  I am a big fan of Viktor Hovland, just seems to tend to his business on the course.

It is totally unfair to play on one school's home course.  A home course in golf is a huge advantage.

With so many good courses available, why do the NCAA dictators do this?

I absolutely agree with the huge advantage of the home course, but yesterday you could have sent Bama out from the forward tees at Palm Desert and OSU out from the tips at Bethpage Black and the results would have been the same.  OSU couldn't miss and Bama couldn't knock it in the ocean if they were standing on the beach.  As merciless of a beating as I've seen since Tiger in '97.

Yeah, Oregon a couple of years ago was more egregious, they were a borderline top 20 team and probably wouldn't have made it to match play on another course. Then they caught a huge break when Hossler hurt his shoulder in the semi-finals and gave them a free point.

OSU was clearly the best team this season.

I get that part, but even that result may have been influenced by the home course.

If team A is home, they are relaxed knowing exactly how to play the course and how every putt breaks.  That frequently results in confident play and better play.

Team B, meanwhile, is not relaxed as they are trying to compute a strategy for every hole and every green.

I know from my own golf trips compared to playing 100 times per year on my home course.  The results are hugely different and I never play as well on new courses as my home course.

I agree with both points.  As I recall, Oregon was not even ranked going into the tournament, but due to  home course advantage won the championship.

Courses are picked years in advance. Eventually someone will have a home course advantage.

Should they change the Super Bowl venue if it turns out being a teams home stadium?

The home course thing for OSU was bad as they are generally top 10 rated nationwide

I know when I played college golf my team was unbeatable at home over 3 seasons.  You're just so much more comfy over shots that could be intimidating for visitors.  You know where to miss.  You know the putts that are slow or fast and you know where all the outlying breaks on the greens exist

Geez, I've never heard anyone whine about home course until oSu wins the NC.  They've played at Karsten 2 other times and it didn't help those times.  The fact is, Oklahoma State won 7 consecutive tournaments this year and none were on their home course.  NO ONE got close to that.   They were the best team.  That being said, there was a lot of pressure on those young men being the #1 team in the country and playing at home.  A loss would have been devastating. Maybe this is the first time most of you have paid attention to college golf, but this is how it's been done for decades.  If your the best, you'll walk into someones house and win the NC.  No one did.

You are wrong on several fronts.  Many of us watch the college golf championship every year.

Nobody said OSU was not the best team, so get off your high horse.

That being said, the home team on their own course has a huge advantage.  It showed this year and last year quite obviously.

Um, Oklahoma won last year and it wasn't on their home course. I guess you mean two years ago when Oregon won.  With all the college golf championships you have watched I guess you just mistyped that.

I donít think the home course is that big of a deal.  It is not always an advantage  because there so used to playing and practicing they actually may end up being a little too comfortable and make stupid mistakes.

I donít care what tournament you play there are always people who play the course everyday who are in the same tournament.  Does it help sure it does but at the end of the day it usually not who played the course the most that wins. They just simply played better that day.
