Someone posted something I found interesting about the history of their golf bag. I started thinking of mine and found it to be funny exercise. I'm lucky to remember everything since it probably doesn't compare to some members here, granted I only picked up the game in 2013. I don't think I'll be changing my main bag anytime soon since my current setup is fitted for me and like where my game's at.

But, for boredom and to get my new gear fix, my backup bags is where I like to trade-in and try different clubs. I find it amusing to try different clubs before I picked up the game, plus I guess you can call it cost effective too.

I would love to be able to go back in time and tell you how my bag evolved from the Square Two starter set that I began with (abandoned 2 months after beginning to play because I wanted something more "pro").  But I can't do that because I've had so many different sets over the course of the 22 years that I've been playing that it would be impossible...

I started as a junior with a set of old ladies’ Wilson irons. Progressed to a set of Titliest DTRs, paired with a set of Callaway Warbird ripoffs, along with a Tom Watson Ram 64 degree wedge and a ram zebra putter. The Tom Watson wedge stayed in the bag for a decade and accompanied a set of Taylormade forged 300 series, a Titliest 983k driver (which was frankly fantastic), a PingI3 2iron and a Ping Zing putter.

Still got the irons (although considering a new set) and now game a Ping G driver, a Ping G10 4 wood, a Taylormade UDI 1 iron, a Taylormade RAC 52 degree gap wedge, a 60 degree Vokey and a Ping Anser 1. Its a random, strangely acquired, likely ill-suited, collection of sticks but they’ve worked well enough at various times.

...was just thinking the same thing, this would have to be a very long thread to fit everyone's entire equipment history -- especially for all of the club ho's around here!

I couldn’t do it if you paid me. I tried to list all of the irons I’ve owned in a thread sometime last year, and the best I could come up with was around 60 sets.

Cobra King f7+ 10.5* diamana whteboard
Cobra f6 baffler 16* matrix code 8
TEE ex9 20*
Ping i10 4-U zz65

Haha that’s crazy. I thought I had a problem and was on track but 5 iron sets in 5 years would only equate to 20 sets if I was to estimate 20 years. Thank you golfwrx for making me feel better as it looks like mines not that bad.

But I guess my driver and putter rate would get to the level of not being able to count. Haha.

Impossible.   Hundreds and hundreds and hundreds if not over a thousand.   Just irons I've gone thru almost 300 sets since '75.

If I just concentrate on the irons that have actually stayed in the bag for any length of time, its actually quite simple.

PING Eye2 (square groove), 1989 - 1996
Staff FG-17, 1996 - 2004
Titleist 680 MB 2004 - 2007
Miura Baby Blade 2007 - Current (multiple sets)

Dates are to the best of my recollection. Prior to playing the Eye2 I had various junior sets. Im in the process of testing some TaylorMade P730s at the moment but its hard to say if theyll kick the 1957s out.

G400, Atmos FOH 6x | TEE CB Pro F2, Atmos Red 7x
TM P730 3-PW, KBS $-Taper 125 - Miura 1957 2/4-PW, KBS Tour-V 125
Ben Hogan TK 52/56/60, KBS Tour-V 120
Mann Mini - Cameron CT | TP5x | My WITB Thread

I would if not for the days of forensics it would take.  I do carry a few more wedges these days in comparison to when I started.

I have a really good memory too and could go on and on...
First set ever was borrowed from my dad - Spalding box set from the 70s - 1,3,5 woods, 3,5,7,9,W and a blade putter. Then got my own clubs, a set of mixed/random old clubs from my grandfather, mostly spalding as well, but I had a MacGregor SW, some kinda cavityback design and a Ray Cook putter.
The first clubs I bought on my own were used Wilson K-28 irons (which I was told were older then me at the time), Goliath driver (big bertha clone), I got a real Ping Anser2 putter around 1998 that I used up until 2 years ago.
Other drivers; Lynx Black Cat, Ping ISI, Ping ISI Tec, Adams Speedline, TM Rocketballz and my current Ping Anser (thinking a Rouge SZ or ST180 will be in the near future)
Other irons: Cleveland CG Red, TM Tour Preferred CB, and current Srixon z765
Wedges: always some kinda Cleveland CG 10 through 16, TA etc, now have Cally MDF
Only on my 2nd putter, Nike Method 002

Started with Ping Eyes and Zings, and now have probably played everything with the exception of Callaway and Nike products. Don’t know why, they just never worked for me....technically or aesthetically. Also never played meaning bagged for a season a set of blades, I guess my age there are too many nice CB’s from Mizuno and Titleist I’ve liked a lot, even Scratch and PXG. But still go back to Titleist, Mizuno, TMAG....and always a place in my heart for Cleveland wedges....
