Wasn't really watching him at all but saw his approach in to 18 on Sunday and noticed he was bagging his TM 750 irons he won with at Eastlake at the end of last season. I. Also noticed he switched to another Odyssey putter which is not surprising. I wonder what Callaway thinks about him back with his TM Irons or do they even care. I thought he signed a full bag deal with them earlier this year.

There was a thread about this back in January after he played some early events with his old M2 and the P750 irons. At the time, Callaway posted some replies on Twitter saying they're taking the long view and weren't going to push him into the new product if he's not comfortable. I didn't realize he still had the P750 in the bag at this point in the season, but I'm not surprised. He didn't make a "business decision" (his words) to sign with Callaway for the equipment.

Some guys are like Sergio and can switch into new gear without missing a beat and some are not.

Well said. Although, I find it hard to believe he signed with ANYONE else after the year he had if it wasn't money driven.

I don't think he's ever switched from the 750s since he initially bagged them.

Probably some of both if I had to guess.

More likely TM didnít want to up contract based on his great play last year and Callaway was willing to.  TM business strategy clearly looks superstar oriented.  Zander not a superstar or at least not yet.

There is probably a clause in his Callaway contract that says he has to use Callaway clubs after a specific date.

He is an incredible player but I find him to be very quiet, sometimes I forget he is playing at all!

I remember reading that TM wanted to thin their tour staff and focus on the handful of stars.

The 750 is underrated. I absolutely love them and it's the only iron I've hit that has me thinking about leaving Mizuno for the first time ever.

Good to see guys trying out different clubs and finding their best fit rather than just riding some equipment deal

That's not quite what's going on here. He has an equipment deal, it's just taking him a while to fully jump into the irons.

I wonder if living your whole life with people saying your name wrong in infinite amounts of variations changes a person. Like, if Xander was born with the name Derek Johnson, would he have become a golfer who is the only person on earth playing P750ís? Hard to know.

Former professional golfer. Current amateur human being. Reformed club ho.

In the bag:

PING. Lots of PING.
