The field is a little underwhelming but I'm excited to see the new course, should be unlike anything else on tour, hardly a tree on the course.  Looks like a lot of the top players are taking off these two weeks to get ready for the Memorial, St. Jude, and US Open.

It's going to be 100* this weekend.  I'd be taking the two weeks off, too.

And who schedules a PGA tournament on a brand new course?  That grass looks sketchy, to say the least.

I'll be out there this weekend to see it first hand. I'm interested to see how the course works with all of the spectators on it. The TPC Four Seasons was a good tournament hosting course and was able to handle all of the traffic. I'm wondering if moving from North Dallas to South Dallas will have an affect on tournament attendance. I'm not extremely excited about being out there all day with no shade though.

Will need to move it to earlier in the year because this will cause heat strokes for the boozed up patrons.

Sounds like the PGA Tour told Trinity Forest to soften and slow the course down via extra water and taller mowing height on the fairways. It's a real shame the tour wanted to not allow this course to play as it should. Hopefully the hot weather makes it play firm.
We're not here for a long time,
just a good time.

The grass looks bad because of the unnaturally cool spring we have had so far in Dallas.

That's a hell of a letter.  Well written by YJS before he was YJS.

Thanks for sharing.

**Edit** after looking at that list of accomplishments I'd say he was already YJS at that time.

Based on SOF, it's the weakest field of the year...even weaker than the Valero, which is saying something.

As a native Texan and Dallas resident, I would suggest playing the US Open at JerryWorld....
Itís air conditioned and basically a USGA style course without any modifications...

Looks like this course is using a brand new zoysia grass called Trinity Zoysia, because it was the first to use this new grass.  They picked it because it played the most similar to the fescue on the links courses

It's only been eight years and four months since Jordan wrote that letter!

He and Justin Thomas have had great careers already. Matteo has won in Europe.

Cameron Peck? His appearance at the 2009 St Jude Classic was his last PGA Tour start. He failed to make a cut on the Mackenzie tour last year.

He won't be wearing the long sleeve shirts all of the time. That company has regular polo/golf shirts that he will be wearing. Him wearing the long sleeve shirt at the TPC was a way to draw maximum attention to the Mizzen & Main brand in a way a regular golf shirt would not. Like him or not but Phil shills quite well for his sponsors.

Your Monday Qualifiers from Gentle Creek CC. Another four man playoff for the final spot. Seems to be the norm these days.

1) Ryan Baca,  Sugar Land, TX - 65
2) TJ Vogel, Hollywood, FL - 66
3) Steven Ihm, Plano, TX - 67
3) Tom Whitney, Little Elm, TX - 67

The field wasnít chock full of known players. Although Ted Purdy and Nick Flanagan weíre trying to get through.

I donít know much about the players other than Vogel. Ihm I Know was a product of Iowa. He may be from there. Whitney is a USAFA grad and research shows he finished his service in 2014. I realized I remembered him playing in Vegas last year, and through a qualifier it seems.

Ryan Baca I confess I have never heard of before today.

Vogel continues his historic run with his 5th Monday Q entrance. Hope he can make the cut and keep racking up equivalent points to get status for next year. The kid is going to win a tournament, and soon.

Best of luck to the qualifiers! Go get Ďem.
