I’m thinking of going to a practice day and I don’t know what is best, between Mon Tue and Wed.   Want to see the most stars hit as many shots as I can.   Thx

Any day, all day...on the range.

Beautiful venue, and you definitely need to do a couple of laps around the course, but given your stated goal, the range is the place youíll mostly want to be.

Most play Sunday the week before, so Monday is often a travel day.  On Tuesday everyone is there, working the course, before taking a half-day on Wednesday to rest up for Thursday when it counts.

Also, not applicable at the PGA, but pro-ams are always on Wednesday, and really no one wants to see the local business guy who can afford to pony up the (substantial) money to hack it around with the pros.

Some of the big names will play a practice round or two the week before and not play Monday.  Most will likely play 18 holes on Tuesday and may or may not play Wednesday depending on their Thursday starting time and hot hot/humid it is.

Have tickets as well, can't wait!  I have heard that members are already having to play off of mats from the fairway in preparation for the event, that seems really early.

Good to hear Tuesday, that's the day I have a ticket! Hopefully the weather won't be too unbearable - all the more reason to get there early I suppose.

Another related question.  I have Friday tickets, but I’m considering either adding a Wednesday or a Saturday day pass.  I can’t do Monday, Tuesday or Thursday, and don’t want to do Sunday.

I would prefer a nice practice day Tuesday and my current Friday, but I have to work.  Is there enough going on on Wednesday to make it worthwhile?  Is one full, hot day enough for tournament play?   I live a little over an hour away, so not a big deal but still don’t want to waste my time and energy.

Thanks!

I’ve been to 3 days of PGA golf in my life.  The old western open at cog hill, during Tigers prime.  A practice day at Valhalla for Ryder cup, and Sunday at Valhalla Ryder cup.   I remember huge crowds surrounding Tiger, huge crowds at Ryder cup, and good viewing and autographs at Ryder cup practice round.  I remember watching Hunter Mahan smoke an uphill 220+ wood from a fairway bunker onto the green during a practice round.  I also remember watching AK celebrate after winning a hole against Sergio.  Both great memories.

This is incorrect. They've been able to play off the fairway until July 24th. Have been cart path only the majority of the season though.

All interesting stuff.  I don’t know anything about turf management, but it’s interesting that it only takes 2 weeks to get the fairways to Tour standards.   I wonder how long it takes a fairway divot on Zoysia to repair itself.  I play on zoysia here in Missouri and it seems like you scrap off the top player of grass, but a network of durable roots just at surface level stays entrenched.   Perhaps that grows back quickly.  I grew up in Chicagoland area, and I remember that a big divot would dig down a few layers of topsoil and a whole network/unit of turf would fly away.
