I'll be in Vegas the first week or June and I'm playing Rio Secco June 2 and Reflection Bay June 3. Anyone play these recently and could comment on the condition?

We just rented a house on Rio Secco 2 weeks ago, and by the looks of it, the fairways were crap. All pieced together, etc. Looks like they re-sodded a bunch of fairways, but just little pieces here and there. The house was a ways above the fairways, so I got a good look at it. I was going to play it, but for the money they wanted for that course the way it looked, I passed. I only saw 2 of the holes though, so take it for what it's worth.

Whatever you do, don't book your tee time on one of those Vegas discount websites. They were all at least $25 above the price listed on the website.

I always book directly with the course.

Currently I have a tee time at Rio Secco booked for June 2 at 6:50am for $100. Should I keep it or maybe look into another option? TPC Las Vegas is $95 and the Wolf course at Pauite is $99.

Played the Secco on 4/28. The only negative was 25MPH winds gusting to 40!

Rough is still dormant in some areas and a little spotty. The fairways are starting to come in, but the greens are already crazy fast. Only one hole (14 I believe) had green issues due to fungus.

I have played Rio Secco 3 times and have really enjoyed it quite a bit. The last time I played it was 2 years ago but I think it is an excellent course. I do not find it to be target golf like many other Vegas courses. I would certainly play it again next time I travel to Vegas. Compared to the boring flat crap we have here in the Midwest, Rio Secca is paradise!

$175 off peak, $250 peak - or something crazy like that. It did look like a cool layout though.

One of my customers played Rio Secco this week and said the course is in terrible shape with the greens absolutely torn up. He also played Paiute and said the course is in great shape.

If I were visiting and going to play two courses and not wanting to spend a ton of money....

This is the way to go... for the money, the lay out and the condition of the courses.

Here is an e-mail I received recently that helps explain whats been going on there. (Rio Secco)

If you're going to play there take advantage of the discount offered in this e-mail.

Rio Secco Golf Club

March 13, 2008 Dear Guest, Thank you for choosing Rio Secco Golf Club during your recent visit. I know there are many entertainment outlets in the Las Vegas, and on behalf of the entire staff here, we were honored you decided to spend your day playing golf with us. Last year, Rio Secco started a turf conversion project which involved the promotion of bermuda and elimination of rye grass. Not overseeding the fairways last fall has permitted us to develop the course into a better golf experience for the years to come. For allowing us to serve you this past winter, you may present this letter at a future time for a $50 discount* off your next green fee at Rio Secco. This letter is transferable to a fellow golfer who may be visiting Las Vegas. I look forward seeing each of you soon.
