Just saw an ad for Aris golf balls. They seem to be a new direct to consumer brand. Anyone tried them yet?

Haven't heard of them, but went ahead and ordered the trial sleeve of both the hero and captain.

I love having all of these direct to consumer balls on the market, nice to shake things up.  I will post a review here once they come in and I put them into play.

It looks like they have already built the discounts in to each dozen and they have a subscription model, if you want to that. Really affordable by the single dozen though

Lot of great off brand balls being produced now.  Just ordered 2 sleeves of the the Hero and Captain.  I like to play a different brand than most I play with and have no problem playing the Encore Elixr, Vice Pro Plus, Snell Red or Black golf balls.  Hope to add Aris to the list.

I really do wonder who is making these blank balls before being stamped with Aris, Cut, etc...... My biggest guess would be to look into the dimple #s and pattern. Find the matching big name brand and that is probably the answer.

Mine will arrive Thursday and will put them into play either Friday or over the weekend.  I am also a part of the Snell reviews to be done for WRX so will throw those in the mix too.  Currently play the Srixon Z Star XV.

I don’t think they’re the same ball. I played some cuts and a few others. I’m not particularly a super feel player but can tell the difference between these brands and the big name brands. IMO they all played pretty much like the balls that is one tier down from whatever premium brand you play. For example I play the XV and the Cut 4 piece I played was very similar to the Q Star. I thought the 4 piece would be most similar to the XV. Even the 3 piece KSIG felt like a soft NXT tour.

I feel like a lot of these companies aren’t making tour quality balls they making balls that are almost tour quality balls that most golfers can at least feel a difference in. I also think that’s pretty cool. I haven’t played a pro V1 in a long time and have always thought they were overpriced but from the few I’ve games around the course recently they are pretty consistent. Maybe not $48 a dozen consistent but if you only need 3 balls a round might as well just buy those....I need a little more than that lol

I know what you mean. I can't determine if it's a mental thing or if it's real on most balls. The only balls I'm positive are every bit as good (IMO obviously) are the new Snell MTB's. Now we have the data to prove that. But, to your point, I think it's interesting because if it's true and these balls aren't quite what the tour level balls are, people still love them and play well with them, proving that the miniscule differences in the balls don't make a significant difference in your performance and score, if any. I think the way we perceive the performance of the ball will have more of an impact on our games than the real performance would have (when it comes to direct to consumer urethane vs. big box urethane). So if all things are fairly close to being equal except for the price, I don't see any reason to pay more than I have to.

Received mine today from Aris.  Ordered Monday and arrived Wednesday, pretty good turnaround (These ship from Utah and I'm in AZ so that helps too).  I ordered the hero and captain model but had all 3 models in the shipment with the yellow scout as well.

First thing I noticed was the hand written thank you note, as seen in the pictures.  I must say, in a day and time where customer service lacks in areas, this is an absolute welcome sign to see and made me want to support this company even more.

On to the golf balls, this is just an initial review of looks as I haven't put them in play which will be happening either Friday or over the weekend.  Both the Captain and Hero balls looked good, great logo, not to big not to small, and the alignment aid was really nice as well, the Aris Hero is 4 piece urethane and Aris Captain is 3 piece urethane.  The yellow version, which is the scout is a 2 piece surlyn ball, has a matte yellow finish that looks very sharp.  Although I don't play surlyn balls I will provide a review of these as well.

The Aris logo is more bolded than others so I could see what you are saying (will take some photos of this soon).  As far as the name goes, I'm the type of person that doesn't care what something is called, if it performs that's all that matters.  Maybe there is a good story behind it like supporting the military or veteran owned (obviously that is all speculation on my end).

Could be worse with the name in my opinion, could be the Aris Rocketballz.

Same here. If a piece of equipment works for you the name/logo/markings/looks etc should not matter. Case in point. How many people here 18 or so months back would have laughed at you if you told them that they would be loving/playing an all around excellent golf ball with an indifferent "Kirkland Signature" logo on it? Quite a few.

Just got mine and they look really nice. Same paint you'd expect on a ProV or snell MTB. Graphics look exceptional IMO. I don't really see how those names are any stranger than any other name on a ball and I can't ever imagine ruling out a ball completely because of a logo, but to each their own I suppose.

Also, I ordered 1 sleeve of each ball they offer for a total of 3 sleeves. They were nice enough to include an extra sleeve of the Captain ball AND a handwritten note...like, a pretty long note. No complaints thus far. 2 day shipping too!

The Aris logo looks huge and distracting.

And the names??  Hero, captain, scout??  Come on.  Really?

No thanks. Doesn’t work for me no matter what the price is.

Lol what’s your problem?

Problem?  I don’t know if it’s a “problem” that I don’t want to stare down at a giant ugly logo on an important piece of equipment with a stupid childish name.

Must've rolled out of bed on the wrong side.  Isn't it just as stupid and childish to call something stupid and childish when others don't seem to have a problem with it?  My grandfather always said, "Opinions are like a$$holes...everyone has them and most of them stink!"

I like the idea of the poster that mentioned the possible connection to the military.  Sounds like a good possibility.

Ordered a couple sleeves.  I enjoy trying these direct to consumer brands.  Will be comparing to Snell, Cut and Vice.

By all means.  Each to his own. Some people actually bought a “Sasquatch” driver years ago. Some people actually buy “Mojo” balls.

I bet old D-bag Bob Parsons is pissed he can’t use these  “military” themed names if he ever comes out with balls.

Of course his would surely be the best balls ever made and $70 a dozen.  KABOOM BABY!
