Just curious as to whether anyone else has had the same experience with True Spec fittings.  This is one of the companies with a huge collection of heads and shaft combos that come to the course to fit (at least here in FL).

I did a fitting with them and came out with Srixon 745s.  They are great.....but as a club nut, I have of course bought about 5 sets on my own since the Srixon but have always gone back to the Srixon after a week or so....

My younger brother who is a former D1 golfer and with crazy length did the full fitting and also ended up in......Srixon.  He got 765 and seems happy....

But in talking to my pro he says a good chuck of their fittings end in Srixon......I dunno.....I know they are great irons, but hard not to think there might be a special financial relationship as well?  Kind of like when the pro at your course fits everyone in either AP2 or AP3?

NO experience with TS, but the z45 and z65 series are just very good clubs. Its not just their fittings that tend to end in Srixons....

Loved my fitting from True Spec. I ended up in Miura CB 1008s and they’re awesome.

Great.  Thank you to all.  Good to know.

Played the 765 again today, they are pretty darn solid

mdwac, it's clearly genetic! Both your brother and you have a hereditary predisposition to hit Srixon Z-series irons well. Don't mess with mother nature...

When I got fitted, I tried the TaylorMade P790's, Srixon 745's, PXG 0311T's and the Callaway Epic Pro's.  The P790's were the first clubs I hit and outside of the Epic Pro's, none of the other irons came close in terms of performance for me.  So I ended up with the P790's.

I had a great fitting at the true spec in Scottsdale. We didn't even try the srixons. I was fitted to P790s, but we tried Muiras, AP2, and Mizunos as well.  I passed on trying the PXG's for fear I would like them...Everyone was so nice and I actually relaxed and hit some decent shots, which I have never done in any kind fitting. Excited to get my taylormades ( something I never thought would come out of my mouth!).

Thinking about doing a full fitting at the Miami location later this year. Post your experience when you finish it. I was originally looking to do it at their Jupiter location but they don't have putter fittings in Jupiter. Miami location has the Quintic system.

Will do.  I have a cousin who has done a couple already in Miami and swears by it. I have emailed with the head fitter a few times already and seems very attentive. Will post after doing the fitting.

Interesting the discussion on the thread refers to the brand/model of the head only. I'm interested in the fit and process to be fit. Head selection is important but how did everyone spec the shaft, length, lie etc etc etc?

There are certain incentives for the fitters, but I doubt it's much. XXIO had one that if you sell 30 sets you get a trip to Pebble. Furthermore, club pro's do not receive any incentive for fitting you into certain brands unless they own the shop (even then it is pennies off the invoice). Certainly no fitter is getting rich pushing a certain brand on you, but True Spec is getting rich fitting you into shafts that are big upcharges or shafts that you can't get through the company. That is the only scam (if you can even call it that).

Did an iron fitting a couple of months ago in San Diego with True Spec.  Specifically chose this location since it's an outdoor fitting with trackman.   As mentioned in other reviews, started with my gamers to get baseline numbers.  Then the fitter selects one head, and then cycled through 5 or so different shafts that he felt would match up with my swing.  The project x lz gave me the most consistent numbers.  Once the shaft is narrowed down, I then tested that same shaft in a number of iron heads.  Think it was 7 different iron heads with the one shaft.  Hit p790's, p770's, apex pro, srixon 765, miura, ap2, and I think 1 more.  Ended up with the p770's.  It was interesting to see that just by changing heads, how different or inconsistent the numbers changed with the same shaft, both in distance and dispersion.
