He should go back to the long putter, ala Langer.

i just meant in general... But yes Rory proved that wrong too at Bay hill.. when he putts he wins.. when he doesnt he doesnt come close.. scott isnt any different.. You have to hit it well.. But i think more so you have no choice but to putt good if not great .

Adam Scott's numbers are a great example about how you can talk about "distance" all you want, but even at the professional level, golf is a game that is played the most inside of 100 yards of the hole.

Adam has been positive strokes gained putting in a season just twice since 2007.  Everyone knows what the weakest part of Adam's game is, including Adam.  Yet he's acted like he doesnt want or need to fix it.

On tour.

There's probably a lot of truth to this.  If Adam was just a mediocre putter on tour in his career, he'd probably have at least a dozen more victories and probably another major or two.

His swing doesn't look all that different, but he is struggling. Golf is a funny game, I mean look at Adam Scott, Yani Tseng, Geoff Ogilvy, to name a few who contended regularly but are now struggling. That is one reason I can't get too upset if I have a bad round. I mean if golfers at the highest level struggle with this game, what does that say for the amateur? :-)

Weird that Louis is probably in the conversation for all three of those as well

Give Louis a tractor and his farm and he's happy... I'm pretty sure these days he plays to finance new farm equipment.

May need to finance a private militia to protect his farm the way things are going..

Adam doesn't seem like the brightest guy to me tbo. Like alot of people on the site who flock to popular social media instructor's across the globe for lessons. I've been guilty of it in the past but have learned.

as someone said (henry cotton, i think), you don't have to be a great putter to be a good golfer, but you do have to be a good putter to be a great golfer ...

but i prefer ben hogan:
Hitting a golf ball and putting have nothing in common. They're two different games. You work all your life to perfect a repeating swing that will get you to the greens, and then you have to try to do something that is totally unrelated. There shouldn't be any cups, just flag sticks. And then the man who hit the most fairways and greens and got closest to the pins would be the tournament winner.

its maddening .. I once hit 30 greens in a 2 day club event and 3 putted 6 of them...  finished 3rd 4 shots behind the winner...makes you want to jump off a tall object

I hear ya (and do the same stuff), but at some point ya have to stop marginalizing putting.   Seems all "players" care about is ball striking...and then all they complain about is putting.  almost as if the game is over when you reach the green.  listening (or reading) that......makes ME want to jump off a tall object.

....back to AS.....I said his swing is overrated  (I just googled it....and stand corrected)

THIS. I'll keep on saying it, when you start having kids, the extra practice time, fire, etc "seem" to go out the window. Maybe not applicable for every tour pro, but I'm betting for a lot of them. Especially since the cash is so damn good.
