Hey guys,
So I am going on a weekend trip with my brothers this coming weekend. We are wanting to play golf somewhere Saturday. I know weekend rates are going to be a bit more, and I have been looking on golfnow for some deals, but just wanted any input on where you thought we should play.

We want to try to play under $75 total for green fee and cart. We are probably staying near Irving/Carrolton area, but are willing to travel a little ways around Dallas if need be.

Any thoughts?

(thanks ahead of time :)

Several good options and all of these get good reviews.

Bridlewood
Grapevine (27 holes)
Frisco Lakes
Coyote Ridge

Coyote Ridge only redeeming quality is the condition. Quirky holes and really stupid greens make for a long day

If driving to play isnít an issue then Heritage Ranch in Fairfield is your course

Stevens Park is $56 with a cart.  Very interesting layout and usually in good shape.  No range

Tierra Verde in Arlington.  Grapevine Municipal for sure.  The afternoon rate at Texas Star May be under $75.  All would be good choices

GoStars has it right.   Texas Star and GV Muni are top notch.   You may look into Old American.  It is higher than the price you mentioned, but they are about to host the LPGA.  I would cough up the extra money to play there if they have it open.

Tons of recommendations already, but the general consensus is that Grapevine and Texas Star are your best bets, and I'll vouch for them.  Really good places.

The greens at Texas Star are overrun with poa Ana. The best public greens right now seem to be at waterchase.

Do you know if Frisco Lakes has their bunkers fixed yet?  I was there in March, and most of them were under renovation.

If you are willing to drive a little out of Dallas (just north of Frisco), there is a fantastic course called "The Bridges Golf Club" designed by Fred Couples.  It is in a small town called Gunter - I'd say about 30 - 40 minutes (35 miles) from Carrollton. Great course, immaculate conditioning and only $65 including cart if you play before 1pm and the rate goes down from there the later in the day you play.  Here is the website:
http://www.bridgestexasgolf.com/

This is a big, brawny course, windswept and fast playing.  I play there every chance I get.  If this is too far, I would recommend "The Tribute" which is a collection of the greatest holes of the British Open rotation.  This is a bonafide course even if they are replica holes.  Always great playing there.

Enjoy

TK

Wedges - Ping Glide 50* / 54* / 58*
