My motivation for wanting a launch monitor is to know if I hit it straight when at home with my net. That's it really, anything else would be a bonus. When looking at the personal monitors like the Mevo or SC200, they only seem to care about speed and distance.

Is this feature simply not available at the <$500 pricepoint? Is SkyTrak the first monitor to include this feature as I climb the price ladder?

Poor Man's Launch Monitor

Using small alligator clips or zip ties, attach a small fleece blanket to the front of the net, ideally white with a vertical black sharpie line in the center, and you'll be able to see exactly where your ball hit it by the impact mark that sticks in the fleece. You can remove the impact mark with a quick brush of the club. If you pay attention to your alignment and target line, this lets you know your horizontal launch angle.

The height of the impact can also be used to quickly estimate your vertical launch angle with a bit of trig and an online triangle calculator like http://cossincalc.com/. Extra credit if you pre-mark the blanket with lines at every degree of vertical launch between about 8 and 40. This is super useful when working on forward shaft lean and eliminating an early release.

Then, to get an idea of your sidespin, pay attention to which way the ball come back off the net. If it comes off to the right, it most likely had draw sidespin (for a RH golfer), and if it comes off to the left, fade sidespin.  If the ball comes back close to straight, you probably had negligible sidespin on it.

Alternatively I could also just move the net and see which of my neighbor's house the ball hits lol

My biggest thing is how far my 7 to wedges carry. The SC200 seems to be pretty close to the numbers, I have collected over the winter in the garage.

Save up and get the Skytrak. Used they go $1,200 - $1,400 if you're diligent. Just grabbed one off Ebay for $1,300
