Yes, getting 3 hour fitting, outside, on course, with a Titleist fitting pro would be the best route, but I don't really have the resources for that based on location and money. I currently play a CB with a C-Taper S shaft. Although I love these irons, I am feeling like I want to go back to an MB, at least in the shorter irons. I used to play a set of Bridgestone J33B's way back with a PX shaft and loved them. I love the feeling of having a tiny head, complete control, and butter feel. I also value shot shape. I find myself working a ball on most par 4's and 5's. Par 3's are usually a stock straight shot or a slight draw for me so workability there will be minimal. I just feel like I will be more consistent with muscle backs in my shorter irons. How nice it must be to be on tour and fully test this stuff on course... Dreams.

Right now my mishits are usually slight toe or a little thin. When firing into pins, I am finding that my distances can be off on occasion even when hit pure as can be. I'm not sure if it's the CB head, shaft, or combo of those two... Or maybe I am just misjudging my shot, idk. Some shots I feel don't penetrate as much as I would like. Even the slightest little breeze can sometimes "catch it" and I come 10 yards short of the pin. Most other times I am pin high.

Question is, if you have played these two irons, what did you notice as far as ball flight, feel, consistency, etc? What shaft are you/were you playing?

I have my sights set on a MB/CB combo. MB PW-6i and CB 5i and 4i. Not sure what shaft I am after with these heads but right now, I have plenty of spin and feel as if I can go even a bit more penetrating, even with the C-taper. I'll be bringing my 714 CB's with me into Edwin Watts this week to test against the new MB. Excited to see what this head with different shafts will provide.

Thanks for the feedback in advance.

If I was a betting man, I'd bet the PX shaft suits you better than the C-Taper.
917 D2 | 718 MB | SM6 | FUTURA 5CB

Nothing wrong with a FAST swing.
However lots of things can go wrong with a FAST backswing and transition.

You might be right, lol. I hit a friends blades in a c-taper x and loved the flight and feel so I ordered my CB's in a C-taper S as my typical 7i is around 163 with my CB's. I did not have a chance to hit a bunch of shafts and get numbers. I went by ball flight and feel.

As per my sig, I play a cb/mb combo.  Swing for swing the CBs actually feel a touch softer than the MBs.
Both irons have a fairly high flight for me with a stock swing but it is easily controlled with ball position.
I like the Tour-V shaft as it is a bit lower spinning which balances the CB/MB heads  as they are pretty high spin for me.  I really enjoy this set of clubs!
*I switch back and forth between this set and some Apex Pro 16s, which I also love.
Cheers

I play a 718 combo set of the CB's and MB's (recently added the MB's), 4and 5 iron are CB's the 6-PW are MB's and have mine fitted with the Project X LZ shafts.
The shafts have really made a difference to me coming from Dynamic Gold S300's. I have added half a clubs length distance wise but have found my contact a lot better.

Driver = Callaway Epic sub-zero 9
5 Wood = Taylormade Burner
Irons = Titleist 718 CB's 4-5, Titleist 718 MB's 6-PW, LZ 6.0
Wilson Staff FG59 DG S300's (4-PW)
Wedges = Titleist Vokey 52*, 56* and 60*
Putter = Wilson Staff 8882
Ball = Callaway Chrome Soft

I played the 712 MB since 2012 and I got the 716CB because everyone talked about how great and forgiving they were when they came out. I sold them in less than a month. I didn't think they were any more forgiving or accurate and I did not hit them any further, they just felt worse IMO. Distance control  is a positive aspect of playing blades, and it is because of the high spin nature of the clubs compared to GI. But with the positives of high spin come the negatives, which include losing more distance into the wind than GI/low spin clubs, and I don't think that has much to do with the shaft. Not going to get any better distance control than with blades, unless you don't hit the center very often, then it doesn't really matter. Feel is subjective to each person, so I would just say hit them to see what you like better.

I have said this before on another thread, the long irons in the CB's are really good. But next time I will swap out the 8,9 and PW for the MB's as the CB's are just a bit harder to flight down.

The CB's do spin quite a bit so sometimes there is a need to try to hit the lower shot.

I have to agree with everyone here. The cb/mb combo is great. I recently switched the pX 6.5 and probably wont ever go to anything else. Has made the irons feel so smooth to me.

Is the CB/MB logo on the 716 and 718 models an adhesive badge? The reason I ask, is that I'd like to paint fill a set and in the past I've just dunked the heads in acetone to remove the current paint, but that won't work very well if it is a badge.

Iíve been saying for years due to the AP2 line that the CB line is one of the most underrated sets of irons you can game. I started with the 695CB which I loved and now have 714CB. I have C-TAper Lites in the 714 and itís pure romance

When I was deciding between clubs last year I hit the 716 ap2 and cb, I'm not the best striker but they performed fairly similar. I just like the look of the ap2s more so I picked em up. Both are decently forgiving, ap2 long irons 3-5 are much more forgiving imo.

I'm a high ball hitter but was able to keep the trajectory down nicely using 716 CBs with S300 AMT shafts. I've never hit a KBS shaft that suited me.

Also it might be worth noting that there are a lot of folks around here who believe the 716 CBs marked a major upgrade for that line after the 714s, so it could be that the newer models would suit you well (I do not have experience with the 714s or the newer MBs).
