Absolutely incredible food. But the food pales in comparison to the wine selection, I've been told their cellar rivals any cellar in the world. Expensive. fine. wines my friend

Lived in Atlanta for a few years and made the trip there on a couple occasions. Augusta the city is not a nice place at all. My recommendation would be to stay in a VRBO in the Lake Oconee area and play golf at some of the killer resorts. Also close enough to Atlanta to be able to shoot into town and enjoy an awesome city.

Interesting.

From what you can see, I’d describe the wines as “solid” if a little predictable.

If they truly have a world class cellar (which they probably do) it’s not reflected on this list - there’d have to be another “fine wine” list.

Sure, but you can tell a lot from the three pages they show.

“Champagne” has current vintage Dom Perignon as its high end bottle. Great choice. But there’s no 1962 Dom or 1990 Cristal or anything really crazy.

The entire country of “Spain” consists of eight wines, a bunch of which might as well be bin ends from Ozalabal’s champions dinner.

The Cabernet list has some solid producers on it, but nothing super exotic.

You’d really need to see the Bordeaux page(s) to make a call overall; but you can get a good sense from what they show. It’s a solid, high quality list loaded with good bottles, but not a “world class” wine program (and why would they need one?).

No no I totally agree with raynor here, the list (along with the whole club atmosphere) renders me so blasé I think I'll start turning down invites to ANGC. The whole club is absolutely pathetic, I will no longer be delighting ANGC and the generous members/past champs with my patronage

Just kidding I'll know I'll be there a few times a year till I die. Enjoying the solid unpredictable wine list so not world class wine list.

Obviously I wouldn’t set foot in an establishment like this to play golf. With those wines on offer!?!

Maybe more interesting to me is the prices. I would have expected much cheaper. They’re priced well below what the same bottles would be at a high end restaurant...but a pretty significant premium to retail.

I have some background in wine (worked for a few big companies in production and retail). From the quick glance, the wine list is good/great. But not OMG out of this world.

I dunno....they could have nothing but Carlo Rossi, Boone's Farms, Franzia, and Charles Shaw "on tap" with the only entree being pimento cheese sandwiches and I'd be honored to play there.

That's even after I've accused them on the open boards of being like the Emperor's New Clothes and painting their grass.   No chance, but stranger things have happened.   ha ha

I stopped playing there because their wine and ale list is so pedestrian.  What an insult to golf.  I had my limo driver go right by the course to meet Phil M. to get donuts..he too does not care for their food or beverage offering!!!!

Close as I've come was one of my playing partners spent a few days there a couple of years ago.   His quote regarding the food was, "they don't have a menu".  He was politely informed whatever he wanted from the kitchen was in fact availble and only limited by his own imagination.  His take on the wine/beverage list was similar in that a list was offered as a starting point but much like In And Out burger there lies a secret unpublished menu availble for those that desire. Your choices were only limited by one's imagination.  This was a few years ago and certainly things may have changed.  Or not.  Hope this helps answers your inquiry and also hope someone else can chime in with insight, however Augusta does seem to obtain a edict of silence in its clientele.

I have one buddy who has played multiple times and he said the same thing about the whole not having a menu.  He's a decent player and wasn't at all intimidated about playing the course but he said when they told him there wasn't a menu the first time he felt more pressure than he could have imagined

I played there and had lunch and toured the entire club.  We never saw a wine list or menu.  Our host ordered everything for us.  The food was wonderful.  The service perfect.  The overall experience was the pinnacle of my golf world.  I met Frank Broyles in the pro shop. Played the Par Three course. Perfection.

Here are a few pics of the locker room bar, dining room where we ate and me "on the phone" at Ike's desk.

Hats inside... not sure I would want to be a member of a club that condones such a thing.

I had lunch in the dining room during the Masters but there was a sort of limited menu from memory. I had the local Clam Chowder which was awesome and a cool drink from the bar which was like a cherry cream vodka . The other place  I went was the pro shop but it was very pricey , so much so that I could not find anything I could afford!! As long as you have the right badge you can go almost anywhere in the clubhouse apart from the players area. Yes sir, step this way.

Good observation.  I was so overwhelmed by the experience that I didn't remember that.   Obviously, nobody asked me to remove my hat.
