Hey guys-

Going to be in Tacoma for a conference and was going to try to get in a few rounds at chambers bay. I read in their website that they are currently resodding a number of greens. Still worthwhile or are there better options? Will be there 4/9-4/15.

Also planning on Salish Cliffs for a day. Would there be any other courses in the area recommended over Salish?

Thanks- Liam

You can look in the Northwest thread as there are a ton of discussions on this.

That said, havenít played Chambers in about 2 years so not sure on their greens. Salish is generally in good condition but it is a love it or hate it track and iím not a huge fan. Look at The Home Course and Gold Mountain I think is the other. The price of multiple rounds at Chambers would be pretty steep.

Agreed with poster above. I think you should still play a round at Chambers even if the temp greens are still there. Beautiful grounds and still worth one round. Salish, Gold Mountain, Home Course, and a little further north Whitehorse Golf Club, etc... are all viable and beautiful options. With the rain, Chambers also drains the best in the state so limited plugged balls.

Good luck and enjoy!

Played chambers last weekend. Regular greens on the weekends. 3 temps otherwise. Amazing course but lousy greens.

Thanks guys! Appreciate it. Think I’ll play once at chambers and see how it goes.

Thanks again guys- chambers was good...but those greens were a struggle. Can’t remember a worse set of greens. However, the new ones that are all poa were good. Going to be a totally different experience when it’s fully converted.

Salish was good, quirky at times, but good. And the Olympic course at gold mountain was fantastic. Would love to get back and play it during dry conditions. Olympic and chambers at local prices all year long made me jealous of the Tacoma area residents.

Sorry I missed this....could've got you comp'd @ Salish.   :(

If you ever get back this way make sure you play The Home Course and over @ The Classic.  Best bang for the buck around besides Gold Mountain.
