Can anyone tell me if you have any experience with this shaft bought from Ebay?  They are all over the site for $225-$250 and then the price jumps to $450, which is what they cost from companies like Club Champion.  I know "if it looks too good to be true"  but most of the sellers that have the shaft for the lower price have thousands of 5-star reviews?  Are these shafts knock-offs?

I believe you're confusing the NON pro orange which sells for around $225 with the PRO version that sells for $400 on up.

I feel like the practical lack of any visual distinction between the two is going to become a retail problem if these shafts gain more popularity. You would be forgiven for completely mistaking one for the other.

No problem. I just didn't want you to buy the non pro version, expecting Tiger's shaft, and getting the dulled down version by mistake. At that point what seemed like a great deal would be a total waste of $225.

Just curious at how big of a difference in the performance of the two shafts?

The non pro versions are basically made to offer in OEM drivers and fairway woods. Ironically the non pro versions feel a little less smooth over all. They do launch higher and spin quite a bit more without the MR70 or Boron in the tip sections. They are still good shafts, just not something you'd find a higher speed player or Tour player gravitating to. There is a reason though, that they are in a lot of OEM drivers, and that reason is because they are a much better choice for the masses and the 80mph swing speed player than the Pro versions.

No way in haites is an OEM offering a Pro Orange lol. Not that anyone said they would or expected it, I'm just commenting. One of the hotter shafts Ive seen come along in a while, as I'm sure Toll can attest to also. Now the question will be which shaft maker will try and copy cat to a certain degree anyways, the PO. Im sure someone will at some point.

I'd highly doubt Pro Orange would ever be offered in an OEM driver as a stock offering. Maybe in a couple years at the end of the product's cycle, but it would be dumb to do that anytime soon with the aftermarket demand through the roof.

When Tiger was playing with the Pro White, it looked like his was painted with a silver section to look like the non-Pro version. Sneaky marketing, or was this a newer prototype?

Can you look at the 2 shafts and tell a difference?  Pro vs Non-pro?

Great question, how do you tell the difference?? Is there a distinct marking on the Pro Orange versus the regular Orange??

The carbon fiber weave pattern travels a good ways up the handle, under the grip, on the pro. The non pro it only goes up a few inches above the Orange label..

That’s Tungsten’s atomic letter (W) and number (74) and mass (183.84)  on the periodic table of elements. Just additional information for the user.

I am going to throw out a guess that it is has something to do with the materials and how they make the tip section so stiff on the orange.

Recently at a Ping to our van fitting and the fitter was a young ex college player. Ping built him a 7.5 digital loft g400 LST with the tensei pro orange built to to tigers spec tipped 1”.  At end of the day we went back to the van and he showed it too me.  Literally felt as rigid as rebar.  Then he proceeded to spank it  with his 117 speed and 4 deg up aoa 310 plus carry.   The orange pro has the weave 10” visible at the butt whereas the non pro is 4”.   I had no idea a shaft could be that stiff and someone could load it. But hey I’m a measly 100 guy with early release. This guy had amazing late release    Per golf shaft reviews the non pro and pro ei bend profiles are completely different.

Can anyone comment on tipping this shaft? I have a 116-118 SS and aggressive transition. Finally got my hands on a raw one and getting it set up tomorrow.

I know more goes into it then just SS however spin is definitely my enemy as well.

Any help would be appreciated!

Can anyone comment on tipping this shaft? I have a 116-118 SS and aggressive transition. Finally got my hands on a raw one and getting it set up tomorrow.

I know more goes into it then just SS however spin is definitely my enemy as well.

Any help would be appreciated!

With those numbers and an aggressive transition I imagine you could get away a few options. Its a very tip stiff shaft, but if you're looking for max spin reduction as far as what the shaft can provide then the safe way to go would be starting with a 1/2", try it out, then pull and move to a full 1" if you feel like you still need a little more. The tricky thing at that point is playing length, the safest route again would be tip 1/2" and butt cut to be 1/2" longer than you'd like and then mark the grip 1/2" down from the butt and swing choked up from there. Assuming that does not mess with you too much and you can get some good strikes and numbers then you'll be able to determine whether or not you're good. If you are you can sacrifice the grip, cut the last 1/2" off the butt, regrip and call it good, or if you want it even stiffer you can chop that extra 1/2" off the tip and reglue then call it good.

I was looking at the new Srixon Z 785 driver on the Srixon web site.  It says the Pro Orange 70 is available as a custom option.  I configured one and added it to my cart, shows as no upcharge, (its $499 stock anyway).  Is this true?
