I'm just getting back into fishing after 20-25 years.... Is there a good website/form similar to golfwrx that can be recommended?

Thanks!

I'd be interested in this. It's probably been 20-25 years for me as well. I gave all of my fishing equipment to my nephews about 10-15 years ago as I just didn't do it anymore. The only downside is it would probably cause me to ho fishing gear when I'm already into hoing golf equipment and darts.

The best one I have come across is bassresource. As the name implies this website revolves around bass fishing and everything included in that. I dont bass fish much but enjoy talking about equipment and such. If you don't bass fish it may or may not be worth your time to check out, Im not sure. But welcome back to the addiction of fishing! It sure is hard to balance the fishing and the golf here in Iowa. You want to do both so badly in the spring!

What would they argue about? Speed of fishing? Dress code while fishing?

Of course there are forums.  Pick your species.....Walleye, trout, bass, saltwater.  Number of fly fishing forums.  Geographic centric ones.   Spend most of my time perusing a Michigan forum for current reports and conditions.  Plus some technique tips.  The one general forum I browse periodically is here.

Fishermen, by and large, are a genteel bunch.  Don't argue much, hard to get overly agitated about what type of line to use.  Older rods work just as well as new ones.  Fish remain unimpressed by the implements one wields, or the attire worn to lake and stream.  No one is disparaged for wearing cargos.

There is one hot button on fishing forums - locations. 'Spot burning' will raise hackles just as much as slow play. Even posting pictures of catches with a recognizable backdrop can induce flaming. Kind of ridiculous. But fishing forums are generally good places for tips and information. I have been fishing my locals and using certain techniques long enough that I don't really need any more tips. But, one new lure has surprised me - trout magnet lures, little straight plastic bodies threaded onto micro jigs, and you need a good ultralight rig to cast them - for some reason trout impale themselves on these little things.

Anyhoo, Bassbarn is a good all around multi-state fishing forum.

TheHullTruth is a good boating forum and for off- and near-shore fishing.  Very Florida-centric, but it's an active forum and there are some guys with unBELIEVABLE sleds on there.
