A big THANK YOU to golfwrx and Fujikura Golf. Mine will be going into a Ping G, and, I can't wait to give it a try.

Now, I need to wait for the shaft, but, mostly, for my club builder to return from vacation on Monday.

A bit about me first, so, that you can take my feedback with a grain or 2 of salt/pepper. I am far from the idea person to give a golf club/shaft review. I am a high ball hitter with a mid to high 80's driver swing speed, along, with spin problems(16 hcp). The high spin comes from my tendency to hit balls below the sweet spot. My attempts to hit up on the ball  seem to cause impacts lower on the club face. It took a while, but, I discovered attempting to level out my swing (probably still positive aoa), has really brought down my spin. And, I have been driving it fairly well (for me) with my Ping G 9 degree (small minus) with the stock Alta S shaft.

I had previously won a Matrix golf shaft, but, I didn't make a good pick(Black Tie stiff - 67 gr), plus, I had wanted to try a shortening my driver shaft length (44 5/8).  In comparison to the Alta shaft, my drives were a bit shorter (high and straight). (fwiw, I had a Red Tie in a Cobra FlyZ+ and I wanted to try something different, and, being a high ball hitter, I ruled out the White Tie). The experiment with the Black Tie didn't last long, as, it was obvious, I was giving up distance, without really getting any more control. I was thrilled to win the Fujikura Pro 2.0.  I did a little more research time, and, saw the specifications for the Model 5 S flex, had very similar numbers to the Model 6 R flex. Being more a R flex kind of guy, I thought great! I showed my local Taylormade rep the spec's and, he said, they should play the same, with the difference being the Model 5 was 9 grams lighter. There was a demo day the next day, and, I got to try a Fujikura Pro 53 in a S flex with M4 head. It felt pretty good, and, worked great with 8.5 head turned down to 8 degrees.  It seemed like the Fujikura Pro 2.0 Model 5 in a S flex would be a good choice.

After receiving the shaft, I consulted my club builder, and, we agreed on the driver spec's - 45" length. The next day I picked it up, and, to my surprise, it seemed to be about the length of my Black Tie. Then I compared it with my Ping Alta shaft, and, it was over an inch shorter. He accidentally built my club 44.5, the swing weight was D2, so, I gave it a shot. The shaft felt fine, but, the results were kind of similar to my Black Tie - high and short. I kind of take these result with a grain of salt, as, we had a different wind direction today, but, swapping back to my Alta yielded better results. The Pro 2.0 at a 44.5" playing length was not a keeper for me.(round 1) My club builder was apologic about the snafu, and, he is going to put together a new one for me at a 45" playing length(round 2). Hopefully, the added half inch makes a difference, though, I would be surprised if it did. It seems like my swing has adapted very well to my Ping Alta shaft. (NOTE: I did try the new Ping G400 and G400 Max, and, neither were better for me than my PIng G).

Round 2 is in the books, and, an 1/2 inch does make a difference! It appears 44.5" is too short for me, which, is a surprise, since, the shorter length should be easier to hit. But, my contact with a 44 1/2 and 44 5/8 inch playing length was always low on the club face. With a 45" driver, my contact improved (more middle of the face), and, seemingly as long as my Ping G with the Alta shaft (45 3/4) .

My session was shortened, when I noticed a subtle click in transition. My club builder said it was likely an air bubble, and, he fixed it with a shot of wd40. Some swings in their simulator confirmed that the click was gone, and, I finally got some numbers which were comparable to my numbers with the Alta shaft, but, my spin numbers were a bit too low for my swing speed, and, I had a pronounced draw. This was inside in a dark hitting bay, with a matte black head, and, with my crummy eye sight, I was probably setup incorrectly. The draw should lessen, and, my spin numbers will climb back up once I get back outside, and, if it doesn't, I can up the loft on my G to 9 degrees. All in all, I am much happier with the Fujikura Pro 2.0, and, it looks like it will be replacing my Alta shaft, but, it will probably require a couple of more range sessions before I make a decision. Right now, I am thinking I am getting more control, and, better consistency, without losing any distance, but, I need to get out on the golf course to really confirm my decision.

It’s funny I started a thread about this shaft earlier this week cause I’m thinking of getting the pro 2.0 TS 7S in a TM M4 and the pro 2.0 TS 8S in a TM M4 15*. When I searched the forums this thread didn’t come up. Since it was started back in April I was wondering if y’all who won have anymore feedback?

I am still enjoying my Fujikura Pro 2.0, but, my experience may not translate to you. I think your best bet is to find an authorized Fujikura dealer and to get fitted.

It is kind of funny, but, until yesterday, no one else has tried my driver with the Fujikura Pro 2.0 5-S shaft. I had a friend give it a try and he was crushing it. I think if the shaft profile fits you - lower end of mid launch and mid spin, you will like it.

Thanks. I used to play the original Pro 7S in a SLDR and really loved it. I’m going to try and get to my local Edwin watts and see if they have it so I can try it out. If not, I’ll probably still pull the trigger and if I don’t like it I’ll just put it up on BST
