As the title states, have any of you made the swap? And if so was there that much difference in forgiveness / performance? I love my irons but if they are that much more forgiving I would consider the change. Would keep my same shafts for sure. My current hcp is 10 and I usually play twice a week.

The 0311XF is similar size to the TM P790 and same performance with much softer, muted feel.
Lots of offset in the XF similar to the 0311.

If you don't mind the offset and want a larger head then the XF Gen2 will be great!

Had the 0311T Gen1 irons.........loved them!
Have ordered the 0311T Gen2 irons......have not hit them but expect them to be as good/better than the Gen1.

Low offset (which I like), great feel and looks, high tech MB performance, excellent consistency, smaller blade like head.

I also had the P790 and XF (3 -7 irons only) and can compare those as equivalents (Michael Newton did a comparison also...similar performance).

Yeh I'm not to worried about the wider sole and more offset. Just if the extra forgiveness was worth the swap.

The XF is similar in size to the P790 and PXG 0311X driving iron (length of head).  The PXG wins out in feel and forgiveness compared to any other iron I have tried.  The GEN2 irons with increased internal COR2 is better in dispersion.

Must hit some to see if they are "worth" the change.

I went from 0311 in the short irons, having already had the XF in 5-7i. I did not find the slight addition in offset offputting at all. They are that forgiving, although the 0311 PW or the PW in your wedge set may be more comfortable because the XF PW heel to toe is "forgiving." But I use the PW for full swings and the Vokey 50 and up for 110 and lower yardage, so the blade length of the XF PW is not an issue.

Sure...... I expect we will be seeing some comparison testing from the boys across the pond on the GEN1 vs GEN2 irons.  That should be helpful.

Sure? I don't get anything helpful from Shiels or Crossfield et al that I can use. A demo is the only way to know.

Sure.... I will give him my best feedback on the GEN2 0311T irons....BUT I will not have a side-by-side comparison as the 0311T GEN1 irons I had have been gone for 6 months.
The boys across the pond may be able to do a side-by-side which should be helpful to some.

If one can do a demo day (which I cannot) that certainly is the best way to ascertain if the irons are as advertised.

I own the 0311t gen1 and the P790. I've also hit the 0311 gen2. The P790's have been in the closet and I've been playing the 0311t. That said a little more forgiveness would be nice, so I tried the gen2 0311P. I think the heads on the gen1 are softer, but the sweet spot on the gen2 felt amazing. I like the idea of slightly less offset in the Gen2 0311P and a thinner topline compared to the gen1 version. I bought a set of the gen2 in the 0311 and I'll compare them to my 0311t gen1's the weekend after the Masters. My guess is the gen2 0311P will be a winner.

Just keep in mind that the 0311XF model has a lot of offset by comparison to the T and P models.  The head length is comparable to the 0311X driving iron and the TM P790.

Does anyone know if PXG is planning a new driver release?  Irons seem fantastic but drivers nothing special compared to other offerings out there.  I demoed one for a few rounds and found it ok but not great

Does anyone know if PXG is planning a new driver release?  Irons seem fantastic but drivers nothing special compared to other offerings out there.  I demoed one for a few rounds and found it ok but not great

There is a new line coming from what I have been told.  It’s in the final prototype testing phase.

Hit Gen 1 & 2's at Club Champion.  Difference was clearly there.  Clubs look stunning.  They kind of pull you in.   SGI iron was something as well.  Its a big chunky looking club but I think once you have it you'll never think twice about getting rid of it.   Launched effortlessly and far.  I ordered one as a long iron.   To say PXG increased the sweet spot is an understatement.  I think the whole club is nothing but a sweet spot.  I think the one thing I walked away from was how truly enjoyable the clubs were to hit, unlike a lot of others where unless you hit every shot pure they're not.  Even some of my off center hits felt good.  To say there is no difference between Gen 1 & 2 is clearly not accurate.  I saw significant positive differences in dispersions and feel across the board plus the clubs just looks better in my opinion.

I'm booked for my fitting.  There was another customer in the store being actually fit for Gen 2 and they were dialing him in with these new KBS graphite iron shafts which I recently saw.  This guy was a solid striker as well.   He was loving his time there and I kept hearing him say "amazing, amazing."  I just walked in to see them in the store and they had an open bay.  I got to hit them for about 20 minutes.

Thanks for the input, I'm pretty sure I'm going to go with the Gen 2 XF's. May try and wait to see if I can find just the heads somewhere, I know PXG doesn't sell them so it will have to be 2nd hand.

I hit the xf along with the 790 and the epon 503. pxg was a close second to the epons as far as distance and dispersion. The epon just felt the best.

For whatever reason the XF just seemed to be the sweet spot for me.  I'm a 10 hcp not that it matters.  The XF just felt and looked really really nice.  Again I didnt have a long time in the bay with all of them. Hitting any club indoors off of a mat is totally different than the real deal.  Its like taking a spin class for months and then when it warms up you actually jump on a bike and ride it outside.  Two different scenarios.  They had a Gen 2 which I guess PXG shipped to them sliced in half so you can see the new insert they came up with.  You can pull the face off and see the actual guts of whats going on in the club itself, like this store had for Gen 1.   Its totally different than Gen 1.  Its almost a firm, rubbery material that covers the entire face of the club.  There's more of it as well in the club.  PXG made the soles more rounded to glide through the turf better which I read about and you can clearly see compared to Gen 1 which is more square.  I have to believe that whenever Crossfield or Shields get these clubs online for their reviews on Youtube, apples to apples, the Gen 2 will be reviewed as significantly softer, farther and better looking than Gen 1.  Theres a noticeable difference between the two models side by side without a doubt.  There was a guy working there as well who said he does not play PXG Gen 1 now, he plays Taylormade (not sure what model I didn't ask) but even he said the Gen 2 compared to Gen 1 was significantly better and mentioned he probably was going to change over soon.  He said he hasn't had the club in store long enough to work it through.  Supposedly they just got their demo shipment in 2 nights before.

I have to say though, the SGI was an alien in a good way.  The guys were laughing when they brought it out and clipped it into a shaft. I had a 5 iron. I can say I was at first a little turned off by the look of it but when you hit it the wow factor was there.  It was smooth and really really far.  Just taking nice easy swings off the mat I kept coming back to it. The one guy who worked there said he was playing around with it the other night when the set arrived and he said slow smooth swings with this one and watch it go. It launches effortlessly and very very far.  Off the turf I can without a doubt see me buying this club and using it as perhaps a 5 iron long.  Its stupidly easy to hit and feels like hitting a marshmellow.  The other guy who worked there without a doubt said once these clubs get traction and reviewed over the next few weeks the SGI we're going to see more and more companies come out with their own versions.  The sole is enormous but it really does the job.  Its one of these clubs when you're on the back nine on 15 or 16, par 5, its hot, humid and your tired.   You just want to throw it out there and let it launch far.  Maybe you don't have a great lie for a hybrid.  This club is by far the big dog that just brings it home.  I think what I'm really looking forward to it being fit for all of these new clubs outdoors off the turf.  See the actual ball flights.  They let me take 0311 1st gen and 2nd gen heads outside of store (he was with me).  I wanted to see how the Gen 2 looked in the sunlight.  Its gorgeous.  It has a really nice color in the sun, not as bright and chromy like the 1st gen.  They're gorgeous club heads and all you want to do is hit them when you get in hand.  More to follow.

No doubt Gen 2 is different than Gen 1.  Do they perform better?  Illl need to see the real life launch monitor comparisons    PXG Irons are fantastic but as is the case with most equipment in golf newer is not always better.

Thanks for the input mtnbkr5. I’m a 10 handicap and play twice a week. Dying to try the Gen 2 XF’s, have a fitting scheduled for next Sunday.

For what itís worth, I never had Gen1ís.  Recently did a fitting where I tried out multitudes of shaft options/heads etc on Gen2 irons. Going in, I thought that I would go to XF (about an 8-10 HCP) but P line was best all the way through the bag for me.
